摘要: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for continuous coating with a rotational die in which coating materials flow in a radial direction. The linear speed of a substrate in need of coating is identical to the tangential speed of the surface of the rotational die so that the coating material, which flows in a radial direction of the rotational die, flows onto the substrate perpendicularly. Therefore, the ingredients of coating materials overlap one another (or stand vertically as a layer), and the vertical sequence of the coating material is ensured. This method and apparatus can be used to make organic electronic devices, organic light-emitting diodes and organic photovoltaic devices. Particularly, this method and apparatus can be used in bulk-hetero-junction of mixed coating of P-type and N-type semiconductors.

摘要: A coating apparatus includes a backup roll that is rotated in accordance with movement of a web and supports the web from a rear surface thereof and a nozzle that includes a first edge and a second edge located at an upstream side of the first edge in a direction of movement of the web and extrudes a coating composition toward a surface of the web through a flow channel formed between the first edge and the second edge. The first edge is formed so that a corner portion between an end surface that faces the backup roll and a side surface that faces the second edge is arc-shaped in cross section and the end surface of the first edge protrudes further toward the backup roll than an end surface of the second edge that faces the backup roll.

摘要: A coated glass mat comprises a glass mat substrate having non-woven glass fibers and a coating which essentially uniformly penetrates the glass mat substrate to desired fractional thickness of the coated glass mat. The coating imparts a tensile strength to the coated glass mat which on average is at least 1.33 times greater than the tensile strength of the glass mat substrate without the coating. In example embodiments, penetration of the coating into the glass mat substrate preferably extends to a depth of from twenty five percent of a thickness of the coated glass mat to seventy five percent of the thickness of the coated glass mat. Moreover, a non-coated thickness of the coated glass mat is sufficiently thick for bonding purposes with, e.g., a gypsum slurry or other core materials such as thermoplastic or thermosetting plastics. The coating has a porosity in a range of from 1.3 CFM to 5.0 CFM, e.g., the coating comprises a coating blend which provides the coated glass mat with a porosity sufficient to allow water vapor to escape from a gypsum slurry when heated. The coating is preferably a coating blend comprised of water, latex binder, inorganic pigment, and inorganic binder.

摘要: The process and apparatus of the present invention involves treating a well-integrated woven or non-woven web of hydrophobic fibers to make selected areas hydrophilic. It also can be used to make a web of hydrophilic fibers selectively hydrophobic. It uses a plurality of selectively adjustable covers on an applicator roll rotating in a bath of liquid to place the liquid material on selected areas of the web as the web moves over the roll. In a preferred embodiment the web is non-woven and the fibers are hydrophobic in nature, e.g., dry-laid or melt-blown polypropylene or polyethylene fibers or spun-bonded hydrophobic filaments. A woven web made of cotton or other hydrophilic fibers may also be used if the end result is to create partially hydrophobic areas on a hydrophilic web. The areas of liquid are positioned on the web only where desired so as to eliminate the excessive cost of unwanted and unnecessary coating material. If the web is hydrophobic, the liquid makes that area hydrophilic. If the web is hydrophilic, the liquid makes that area hydrophobic. Enhanced liquid containment and transport is obtained when at least one discontinuous fine fiber layer is utilized in the web and the fine fiber layer has a melt-blown content greater than zero but less than 1.5 gsm.
