    摘要: Various embodiments of the invention include solutions for chamber-less thermal joining. A first aspect includes a system for performing a thermal joining of a joint space defined by a metallic part without an environmental chamber thereabout. The system may include an induction coil for heating an area adjacent to the joint space defined by the metallic part for the thermal joining of the joint space. The system may also include a gas lens for directing a shielding gas towards the joint space, and a valve system for controlling a flow of the shielding gas from the gas lens. A vacuum system creates a negative pressure in the metallic part to urge the shielding gas through the joint space during the thermal joining, thus allowing thermal joining of the metallic part without an environmental chamber thereabout.

    摘要: A double-wall composite pipe is produced by inserting an inner pipe in an outer pipe, filling the inner pipe with cold water under pressure to cause the inner pipe to expand plastically into tight contact with the outer pipe, applying heat to the outer part of the outer pipe by high-frequency induction heating, thereby to establish a locally heated zone thereof around the circumference thereof and causing the heated zone to travel from one end to the other end of the outer pipe thereby to cause it to successively expand locally in diameter in the travelling heated zone. The pressure in the inner pipe then is removed, the pipes thereafter being permitted to attain the ambient temperature, thereby to obtain an interference fit therebetween.

    摘要: A metal rod is supplied to a pair of bonding rolls provided with peripheral grooves forming a substantially circular roll pass that also receives at opposite sides of the rod a pair of metal strips of a different metal than that of the rod. The rolls press the strips against the rod and pull all three together through the roll pass, with the strips bent around the rod to enclose it. Before the strips reach the pass, an electric current passes through a length of each one to heat it to a solid-phase bonding temperature and to burn off contaminants. Also, before the rod reaches the rolls, it is heated to a solid-phase bonding temperature by means of an electric induction coil encircling it while it is passing through an enclosure maintained full of a gas providing a controlled atmosphere around the heated portion of the rod. The diameter of the roll pass is small enough to reduce the diameter of the product therein and simultaneously cause solid-phase bonding together of the heated strips and heated rod.
