摘要： A method of forming a part from a blank includes positioning the blank within a forming die. Water is introduced between the blank and the forming die. The water is heated to form steam between the blank and the forming die. The blank is reshaped within the forming die to form the part while the steam is disposed between the blank and the forming die. The steam forms a cushion between the blank and the forming die to reduce friction therebetween. A lubricant is not applied to the blank prior to being positioned in the forming die. Therefore, the formed part does not require a washing step after being formed.

摘要： A method of creating an air barrier on both sides of an innerliner splice on the inside surface of a green tire when a bladder release lubricant is being applied thereto to prevent contamination of the splice. High pressure air is directed through air nozzles on both sides of the innerliner splice just prior to and during the application of the lubricant. A pressure sensor detects high or low air pressure during the creation of the air barriers to stop the spray of lubricant should either situation be detected.

摘要： Oriented or strength-enhanced embossed film is produced by introducing a thermoplastic film having an inert liquid lubricant covering its surfaces into the nip between at least one pair of rotating compression rolls under sufficient pressure to reduce the thickness of the film, and simultaneously embossing at least one of the film surfaces within the nip. While various inert liquids may be used as the lubricant, use of water for this purpose is preferred. The lubricant is believed to provide a hydrodynamic wedge at the film-compression roll interfaces, and for best results it is preferred to spray the lubricant (most preferably, water) into both incoming sides of the nip of the compression rolls.
