摘要: A blow mold shell assembly includes a mold cavity insert defining a mold profile on an inner surface. A manifold insert is separately formed from the mold cavity insert and disposed outboard of the mold cavity insert. The manifold insert includes at least one coolant channel formed therein. The mold cavity insert is substantially solid throughout its cross-section and precluded from passing coolant. In one example, the coolant channels may be formed longitudinally through the manifold insert. A fluid inlet fitting and a fluid outlet fitting are both in fluid communication with the manifold insert.

摘要: Described is a mold jaw half for an apparatus for the production of transversely ribbed tubes, wherein the mold jaw half (16) has end faces and a base face and in its interior a cooling passage with a coolant feed and a coolant discharge, which open at a spacing from each other at the base face of the mold jaw halves. In order to provide a reduced flow resistance for the coolant through the cooling passage and consequently an increased coolant through-put, resulting in an improved cooling action, it is proposed that the coolant feed and the coolant discharge cross, as seen in a direction viewing on to the end faces of the mold jaw halves, and are oriented in opposite relationship with respect to the advance direction of the mold jaw half. That mutually opposite orientation provides that the coolant is virtually shovelled into the cooling passage.

摘要: A blow mold assembly is provided that comprises a blow mold shell, a mold holder and a mold holding assembly. The blow mold shell having a first annular groove disposed within the lengthwise exterior surface of the shell. The first annular groove serves as a mating surface for a support harness that positions the mold shell within the blow mold assembly. Additionally, the blow mold shell may comprise a shoulder insert that may include an independent cooling channel. The blow mold assembly comprises a mold holder that includes arcuate interior surfaces and arcuate exterior surfaces so as to create a concentric blow mold holder. The mold holder may comprise a pressure compensation element that is capable of compensating for the pressure build-up within the mold shell during the blow mold process. The blow mold assembly also comprises a blow molding holding assembly that comprises clamping brackets having arcuate inner surfaces for mating with the arcuate exterior surfaces of the mold holder or mold shell. The clamping brackets are pivotally driven by a cam apparatus within a blow-molding machine and serve to open and close the blow mold assembly as warranted by the fabrication process. The blow mold shell assembly may also comprise a mold shell and a mold holding assembly. In applications not requiring a mold holder, the mold holding assembly comprises clamping brackets having an arcuate inner surface and the arcuate inner surface of the clamping brackets are disposed circumferentially about the exterior surface of the blow mold shell. The invention also comprises the individual components of the blow holding assembly.

摘要: An injection blow molding machine (10) having a core rod (18) against which a parison of a thermoplastic material is formed by injection molding. The core rod is cooled by causing a stream of compressed and conditioned air from an inlet manifold (52) to flow through the core rod. The core rod has an outer annular tube (70) surrounding an inner annular tube (74) and defining an annulus (80) therewith, and the annulus (80) is divided into inlet and outlet flow passages (82, 84) by opposed projections (76, 78) that extend thereinto. Spent cooling air from the core rod is exhausted to an outlet manifold (54) from which it is discharged to atmosphere through a line (42) or recompressed by a compressor (46) and returned to the inlet manifold (52) after reconditioning. The conditioned air has a regulated pressure as a result of passing through a pressure regulator (24), and is heated, if needed, by passing it through a heater (26), or cooled, if needed, by injecting a water spray from a spray nozzle (36) thereinto.
