    摘要: A co-extruded multi-layer plastic pipe and method of manufacture are disclosed in which a first extruder melts and extrudes a first plastic material into the outer annulus of a coaxial extrusion die to form an outer pipe layer, and a second extruder melts and extrudes a highly oxidation-resistant plastic material into the inner annulus of said coaxial extrusion die under a blanket of inert gas to create an inner pipe layer, whereby the outer and inner pipe layers are fused together under the protection of the inert gas blanket which prevents premature degradation of the oxidation-resistant inner layer until the finished extruded pipe has cooled and solidified.

    摘要: An extruder apparatus and method for producing an extruded tubing having varying inner dimensions without changing the outer dimensions. The tubing is forced from the die face of an extrusion head having an extruder die and an internal mandrel determining the outer and inner dimensions, respectively, of the extruded tubing. The outer dimensions of the mandrel varied by the user to change the inner dimensions of the extruded tubing. A pressure is maintained in the extruded tubing to prevent its collapse and that pressure is changed based upon the change of the external dimensions of the mandrel and the wall thickness of the tubing. In one embodiment, the mandrel is comprised of a core and a plurality of telescoping sleeves. Each sleeve is movable between a retracted position where the sleeve is displaced away from the die face and an extended position where sleeve is at the die face. There may be multiple mandrels in the case of multi-lumen catheters.

    摘要: A crosshead die for a plastic optical fiber fabrication system is provided. The crosshead die includes a body, an insert, mounting flanges on the upstream and downstream end for securing the crosshead die to adjacent equipment or another crosshead dies, an axial port for receiving a mixed molten material that makes up the core, and a radial port for receiving a mixed molten material that makes up the outer layering material to be co-extruded over the core. The die insert includes a material distribution channel system that provides substantially the same linear distance for the mixed molten material to travel prior to the co-extrusion. If multiple die inserts are utilized, the crosshead die is able to co-extrude multiple layers over the core. If the crosshead dies are serially assembled, additional concentric layers of material can be co-extruded atop the layered plastic optical fiber extruded from the upstream crosshead die.

    摘要: Processes and apparatus for extruding a tubular film of polymer material. The apparatus comprises a circular coextrusion die having an inlet (10) for the or each component and having an exit channel (18) ending in a circular exit orifice (21) which is located radially outwardly from the die axis compared to the inlet (10). The die comprises several planar or conical die parts (5, 6, 7, 28, 29) clamped together, with surfaces supplied with grooves (14) shaped to form channels (11, 12, 13) for the flow polymer material. The shape of the channels is adapted to equalize the flow over the circumference of the exit orifice (21), and the flow of material is divided between the inlet (10) and the exit (21) into a number of part flows (13) of generally helical form with space (15) provided for overflow of material between said part flows, whereby the part are adapted so that they join to one common, circular flow.
