Abstract: Tire tread has a central rib (411-413) and two lateral ribs (421-422) which are separated by circumferential grooves (141-144). A first lateral rib (421) adjacent to the outer axial edge of the tread and a central rib have a first portion (4211, 4111, 4121, 4131) the axial width of which exceeds 20% of the axial width of the relevant rib made from a first rubber composition containing an elastomer and a reinforcing filler consisting predominantly of carbon black, and an axially adjacent second portion (4212, 4112, 4122, 4132) made of a second rubber composition containing an elastomer and a reinforcing filler a minority proportion of which consists of carbon black. The second rubber composition has a tan d0 value which is less than the tan d0 value of the first rubber composition, the tan d0 values being measured at a temperature of 0 C and under a stress of 0.7 MPa.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a pneumatic tire has a winding step of forming a rubber ribbon winding body constructing a tread rubber by spirally winding a rubber ribbon obtained by co-extruding a first rubber and a second rubber which are different in hardness. The first rubber is mainly arranged in a first area by making a cross sectional area ratio of the first rubber greater than that of the second rubber. The second rubber is mainly arranged in a second area by making the cross sectional area ratio of the first rubber smaller than that of the second rubber. A portion in which the cross sectional area ratio of the first rubber becomes smaller by smaller is provided from the first area toward the second area. The rubber ribbon retaining a compound interface is superposed and wound to at least a part of the second area.

Abstract: A tire has a tread rubber and a conductive portion. The conductive portion is formed so as to connect the ground surface and a side surface of a side end portion of the tread rubber in a tire meridian circle cross section. The conductive portion having a rubber hardness which is different from the tread rubber, and has a stem portion and a plurality of branch portions. The stem portion heads for an inner side in the tire width direction from the side surface of the side end portion of the tread rubber so as to terminate at an inner portion of the tread rubber. The plurality of branch portions are branched from a plurality of positions of the stem portion so as to head for an outer side in the tire width direction and be exposed to an outer surface of the tire.

An under tread rubber layer disposed in the tread portion has an average thickness from 0.8 mm to 4.0 mm. A hardness of a rubber composition forming the under tread rubber layer is from 73 to 83. A tan δ at 60° C. of the rubber composition forming the under tread rubber layer is 0.25 or less.

Abstract: A tire is provided with a tread that includes first and second sectors and grooves. The second sectors are formed of a rigid reinforcing compound. Each of the first and second sectors has a contact face intended to contact a road surface when the tire is in use. Each groove includes sidewalls and a bottom, and extends from an end of an adjacent contact face. A depth P of each groove is measured in a radial direction between its bottom and a position corresponding to a radial height of the adjacent contact face. Abstract: Tread rubber forms a ground contact surface. When the ground contact surface is divided into two parts: a mounting inner side and a mounting outer side, the tread rubber has an inner cap part that forms an inner ground contact surface and is produced from non-conductive rubber, and an outer cap part that forms an outer ground contact surface. The inner cap part has a branched conductive part that is formed from conductive rubber ranging from the ground contact surface of a mounting outer end of the inner cap part to the side surface or bottom surface of a mounting inner end while branching off at a plurality of positions. The outer cap part does not have branched conductive rubber. The branched conductive part is formed from the conductive rubber with a rubber hardness different from that of the non-conductive rubber that forms the inner cap part.

The average modulus of elasticity in region B at 100% elongation at 40° C. is larger than the average modulus of elasticity in region A and in region C at 100% elongation at 40° C.

Abstract: A racing tire comprising a tread having a new tread thickness of no greater than about 0.375 inch. The tread defines a running surface that includes a first circumferential portion of a first rubber compound and a second circumferential portion of a second rubber compound situated adjacent one another. The first rubber compound has a greater stiffness than the second rubber compound so as to provide the tread with greater wear resistance along the first circumferential portion, and the second rubber compound provides the tread with greater traction along the second circumferential portion. The tread may be substantially free of a tread pattern. The second rubber compound may have a greater DIN abrasion value than the first rubber compound. The second rubber compound may have a higher tan delta at 100° C. and/or a higher J″ traction value than the first rubber compound.
