The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for easily producing a difluorophosphate using only low-cost starting materials without requiring cumbersome operations. According to the present invention, at least one salt selected from the group consisting of halides, carbonates, borates, phosphates, hydroxides and oxides of an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal or an onium, at least one phosphorus compound selected from the group consisting of oxychlorides and chlorides of phosphorus, water and hydrogen fluoride are reacted. The above-mentioned purpose is achieved preferably using, as hydrogen fluoride, one substance selected from the group consisting of hydrogen fluoride anhydride, a mixed solution of hydrogen fluoride anhydride and an organic solvent and a mixed gas of hydrogen fluoride anhydride and an inert gas, as a salt used in the reaction, at least one substance selected from the group consisting of halides and carbonates of an alkali metal, and as a phosphorus compound, phosphoryl chloride.

A difluorophosphate effective as an additive for a nonaqueous electrolyte for secondary battery is produced by a simple method from inexpensive common materials.The difluorophosphate is produced by reacting lithium hexafluorophosphate with a carbonate in a nonaqueous solvent. The liquid reaction mixture resulting from this reaction is supplied for providing the difluorophosphate in a nonaqueous electrolyte comprising a nonaqueous solvent which contains at least a hexafluorophosphate as an electrolyte lithium salt and further contains a difluorophosphate. Also provided is a nonaqueous-electrolyte secondary battery employing this nonaqueous electrolyte.

In a process according to the present invention for purifying a fluorine compound, the following is brought into contact with the fluorine compound, which contains an oxygen compound as an impurity, thereby removing at least oxygen: carbonyl fluoride in an amount of a 0.1-fold equivalent or more and a 100-fold equivalent or less of oxygen atoms in the fluorine compound.
