A vacuum evaporator is provided with an integral cyclonic-type entrainment separator at the top of the evaporator vapor body which comprises a helical spin plate for imparting a centrifugal action to the vapor and entrained liquid rising from the boiling liquid in the flash chamber. Liquid entrainment is deposited on the vertical wall of the evaporator and flows downward countercurrent to vapor flow into a collecting trough, from which it is discharged into a pipe that returns it to the boiling liquid.

THE ENTRAINED DROPLETS ARE PASSED TO A DECELERATING ZONE WHERE THE VELOCITY PROFILE OF THE GAS IS SUCH THAT CONTINUOUS CIRCULATION OF DROPLETS IS POSSIBLE, WITH DROPLETS PROXIMATE THE AXIS OF SAID ZONE BEING ENTRAINED UPWARDLY AND DROPLETS PROXIMATE THE SIDE OF SAID ZONE FALLING DOWNWARDLY WHERE THEY CAN BE RE-ENTRAINED BY ENTERING HOT GAS. IN THIS MANNER IT IS POSSIBLE TO RECIRCULATE THE DROPLETS AND CONTROL THE EXTENT OF CONCENTRATION WITHIN A REASONABLY DIMENSIONED APPARATUS AND WITHOUT ANY DIFFICULT SEPARATION PROBLEM BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVELY SMALL DROPS.

Disclosed herein are compositions and methods of mitigating scale in phosphoric acid and ammonium phosphate plants. Scale-mitigating compositions of the invention can be added to phosphoric acid before or during the concentration in the evaporator cycle of a phosphoric acid plant. The compositions retard the formation of scale on surfaces in contact with the phosphoric acid, and thus time between cleaning is extended and plant productivity increased. Further, the scale that forms is softer and more easily cleaned from surfaces, reducing non-operation time of the plant and/or evaporator. Methods of mitigating scale formation in phosphoric acid production and phosphoric acid handling plants are disclosed. In the methods, scales accumulate more slowly and are softer, more tractable, and more easily cleaned from surfaces to which they adhere.

Wet process phosphoric acid is heated by passing alternating current through the acid, preferably in carbon apparatus to concentrations above 76% P.sub.2 O.sub.5 and preferably temperatures above 500.degree. C. to remove sulphate and fluoride and convert organic and basic impurities into a filterable precipitate; the acid is separated from the precipitate preferably after dilution with water to provide a high purity crystallizable product.

Disclosed is a method for preparing iron phosphate and by-product fertilizer using ammonium phosphate. The granulation device for by-product fertilizer production comprises a housing having accommodation space which is divided from top to bottom into a granulation chamber, a material-screening chamber and a temporary material-storing chamber; a blowing component provided between the granulation chamber and the material-screening chamber; and a vibrating screen which is able to vertically reciprocated provided between the material-screening chamber and the temporary material-storing chamber which is connected to a discharge pipe, wherein the upper end of the housing is provided with a detachable cover having multiple spraying devices for spraying the molten material into the housing and connected to an exhaust pipe. The blowing component comprises multiple staggered and interconnected distribution pipes the upper end of which is connected to multiple blasting pipes and a side of which is connected to an intake pipe.
