This disclosure relates to a silica support for a metallocene catalyst used for olefin polymerization, a preparation method thereof, a metallocene catalyst using the same, and olefin polymer. Specifically, according to the present invention, a silica support used for preparing a metallocene supported catalyst is treated with a specific halogenized metal compound, thereby diversifying reaction sites to a cocatalyst when preparing a metallocene catalyst, and thus, the molecular weight distribution of produced olefin polymer may be much broadened and polymer having high molecular weight may be obtained compared to the existing support, even if the same metallocene catalyst is supported.

A process for preparing siloxy carboxylates is characterized by reaction of C2-C10-monocarboxylic acids with halosiloxanes of the general formula (I), Hal-(SiR2—O)x—SiR3 (I) in which Hal is the same or different and is fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine, R is hydrogen, C1-C10-alkyl or C6-C14-aryl and x is an integer from 1 to 20, to form hydrogen halide in the presence of an auxiliary base, in which the auxiliary base forms, with the hydrogen halide, a salt which forms two immiscible phases with the siloxy carboxylate or the solution of the siloxy carboxylate in a suitable solvent and is removed by a liquid-liquid separation. The process enables simple and economically viable preparation of siloxy carboxylates.

This invention relates to a series of fluoroalkylsilane compounds of formula I. 1 These compounds are silylation reagents which enhance the solubility of the silylated products in fluorocarbon solvents for preferred use in fluorous phase synthesis. Use of these compounds protects fragile hydrogen groups and also provides for the straightforward separation of the ultimate reaction products though fluorous phase extraction. This invention also relates to a two-step process for making compounds of formula I. The process comprises reacting an alkyldialkoxysilane with a perfluoroalkyl-substituted silane to produce a perfluoroalkyl-substituted dialkylsiloxyalkylsilane intermediate; and reacting the intermediate with halogen.

A process is disclosed for preparing linear hydroxy end-terminated linear siloxanes comprising the steps of; a) mixing chlorosiloxanes having the formula ClR2SiO(R12SiO)xSiR2Cl where x is an integer having a value from 1-10, each R and R1 is an independently selected monovalent hydrocarbon group, with volatile methyl siloxanes to form a solution of chlorosiloxanes in volatile methyl siloxanes; b) hydrolyzing the solution of chlorosiloxanes in volatile methyl siloxanes to form a hydrolysis mixture of reaction products; c) separating the hydrolysis mixture of reaction products into an aqueous phase and a siloxane phase comprising hydroxy end-terminated linear siloxanes and volatile methyl siloxanes; and d) recovering the hydroxy end-terminated linear siloxanes from the siloxane phase.
