    Abstract: A process for depolymerizing a polymer comprises reacting the polymer with a nitrogen-containing compound in the presence of a catalyst whereby the polymer is depolymerized into one or more monomers. The catalyst comprises carbonate and an element in group 1 or group 2 of the periodic table. The nitrogen-containing compound comprises ammonia, an amine reagent, or a combination of ammonia and an amine reagent. The polymer comprises polyamide, polyester, polycarbonate, polyurethane, polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), lignocellulosic material, or combinations thereof.

    Abstract: A system to carry out solvent targeted recovery and precipitation (STRAP) to recover individual polymers from multilayer plastic films or mixed plastic wastes, comprising a down-sizing device to shred the plastic wastes into particles with a size and aspect ratio to be flowable; a feeder that conveys the plastic particles in a constant flow without bridging; a dissolution vessel to selectively dissolve an individual polymer component in a solvent; a high temperature filter to separate the dissolved polymer component from the undissolved plastics; a precipitator to precipitate the dissolved polymer component; a low temperature filter to separate the precipitated polymer component from the solvent; and a distillation unit to purify the recycled solvent. The unique design of the feeder and the dissolution vessels allows the system to run in a semi-continuous mode.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for reducing the acid value in a provided polyol to obtain an upgraded stabilized polyol composition, said method comprising following process steps:



    Solubilizing ammonia in a distillable alcohol having a boiling point lower than 200° C. with formation of an ammoniated distillable alcohol;
    Providing a polyol having a predefined acid value;
    Chemically reacting the ammoniated distillable alcohol with the provided polyol;
    Removing the distillable alcohol by distillation at a temperature comprised between 120 and 220° C.; and
    Obtaining an upgraded stabilized polyol composition having an acid value lower than the predefined acid value of said provided polyol.

    Abstract: The subject matter disclosed herein is generally directed to methods of recycling epoxy polymers using organic salts as catalysts in an aqueous solution. Epoxy polymers and their composites are widely used in many fields such as coatings, adhesives, wind blades, automobiles, aeronautic vehicles, and sporting goods. However, the management of thermoset composite wastes is becoming a public concern as the out of service thermoset products build up. With the increasing awareness of environmental protection and the depleting of landfill sites, it is of great importance to develop an economically viable and environmentally-friendly recycling technology of thermoset materials that is suitable to industrial scale-up production. As such, there is a clear and present need for a novel solution that is environmentally friendly and scalable in the market.
