摘要: This disclosure provides systems and methods for improved electro-enhancement of surfaces of workpieces. The systems and methods can include immersing a metal workpiece in a salt bath and applying a time-varying electric current that has periods of high current with periods of lower current between. The systems and methods provide borided metal workpieces that contain preferred borides on the surface and lack less preferred borides. For example, the systems and methods can provide borided steel having Fe2B and substantially lacking FeB on the surface.

摘要: A process of boronizing a metal article is described which comprises immersing the selected metal article in a fused bath composed of at least one alkali metal halide or alkaline earth metal halide and a boron salt of the empirical formula MxByFz wherein M is an alkali metal, and the ratio of x:y:z is 1:0.4 to 2.0:0.5 to 2.5 with y being preferably above 1 and z is preferably below 1.5, the fused bath being maintained at a temperature between 1200*F to 1750*F for a sufficient duration to impregnate the metal with boron. There is also described novel boron products, their process of manufacture and salt baths containing such boron products. The process produces an extremely hard, uniform, adherent and corrosion resistant boride casing on metals such as carbon and alloy steels.

摘要: The present invention is a composite welding wire for fusion welding of components manufactured of superalloys. The composite weld wire includes an inner core wire and a surface layer applied and bonded to the inner core wire. The surface layer includes alloying elements selected from among B and Si with a total bulk content of B and Si in the composite welding wire of 0.1 to 10 wt. %. Preferably the total bulk content of B is less than 4 wt. % and the surface layer comprises from 5 to 95 wt. % of the alloying elements selected from among B and Si.

摘要: A method for producing a wear and corrosion resistant WC based material coated with one or more metals selected from group IVB, VB and VIB metals (according to CAS system) and Al is disclosed. The method comprises treating of said coated structure with electrochemical boriding treatment in an electrolyte which is substantially free of halogenated compounds wherein the electrolyte comprises alkali carbonates and boron sources and said electrolyte being heated during electrolysis under an induction heating regime having electromagnetic frequency ranging from 50 to 300 kHz during electrolysis.
