A filter media and methods are provided. The media is stretchable and exhibits a high degree of elongation which thereby extends its surface area during pleating. By extending surface area of media during pleating, the initial differential pressure is lowered as the area of media is stretched while keeping the same efficiency range with a compressed thickness of media on the affected area.

An object of the present invention is to develop: a method of efficiently producing a long bagworm silk thread without slack of reeling during collection while preventing a change in the spinning direction and the runaway of the bagworm from a rail, and alleviating a burden on the bagworm; and an apparatus for implementing the thread-producing method. Provided is an apparatus for producing a bagworm silk thread, including: a movable loop-shaped rail configured to move in the longitudinal direction and to be held by the legs of a bagworm; a fixator configured to fix the bagworm; and an adhesion controller configured to store an adhesion control solution for washing away or removing a gummy component from the bagworm silk thread spun on the movable loop-shaped rail, wherein the apparatus makes it possible to cumulate the bagworm silk thread spun on the movable loop-shaped rail.

A fiber-wrapped smokeless tobacco product includes smokeless tobacco and a plurality of polymeric fibers surrounding the smokeless tobacco. The polymeric fibers can have a basis weight of 5 gsm or less and a diameter of less than 100 microns. In some cases, the polymeric fibers are melt-blown polymeric fibers. In some cases, the polymeric fibers are centrifugal force spun polymeric fibers. A method of preparing a fiber-wrapped smokeless tobacco product includes melt-blowing or centrifugal force spinning a plurality of polymeric fibers to create an polymer deposition zone and passing a body comprising smokeless tobacco through the polymer deposition zone. In some cases, an electrostatic charge can be applied to the plurality of polymeric fibers, the body, or a combination thereof. In some cases, a spin is applied to the body when passing through the polymer deposition zone.

A method of forming a plurality of hollow fibers includes the step of providing an elongated flexible substantially continuous fiber and coating an outer surface of the fiber with a hollow fiber material. The hollow fiber material is cured or hardened. A gap is created between the outer surface of the support fiber and the inner surface of the coating layer defined thereon. The coated support fiber is cut into a plurality of fiber segments each having exposed ends. The support fiber segments are removed from the coating layer so as to provide a plurality of hollow fibers.

The invention discloses a method of manufacturing melt blown style activated carbon fiber filter elements, which comprises: putting polypropylene resin into plastic pressing machine, then melting it at high temperature, after pressing, the liquid polypropylene is produced and transported to fiber-injector, and spraying the melted liquid polypropylene to fiber-receiving device in fiber form, transporting activated carbon to fixed position of fiber-receiving device, by fiber-receiving device's inertia, polypropylene fiber can join activated carbon to produce filter cartridge in pre-set inner and outer diameters. This invention can reduce cost effectively and many different micron rating filtration elements can be easily produced automatically. Both of New activated carbon fiber filter cartridges and filter cloth are of excellent performance and long-service life.

An apparatus and process for obtaining the desired outside diameter for a tension-resistant core element, which includes assembling mixed filaments containing glass fibers and thermoplastic fibers, heating the bundle of mixed filaments to melt the thermoplastic fibers to form a matrix with the glass fibers embedded therein, then extruding an outer covering of the desired outside diameter for the core element onto the bundle. If desired, the melted bundle can be passed through a shaping device, which is preferably heated prior to extruding the coating thereon, and, subsequent to extruding, the extruded coating and bundle are cooled in the cooling device before being wound on a take-up drum or entering a stranding device for having communication elements stranded thereon.
