    摘要: This invention relates to a process for preparing a sheet structure comprising the steps of: a) combining a plurality of plies comprising thermostable floc and at least 10 weight percent aramid fibrids, and the plies further having a void content between 25 and 95 volume percent and a moisture content of 1.5 to 7 weight percent; b) providing the combined plurality of plies to a heated press for thermal laminating the plies together, the heated press having a temperature of from 250 to 400 degrees C.; c) thermal laminating the plurality of plies in the heated press by compressing the plies at a pressure of at least 1.3 MPa while heating the plies at a temperature of from 250 to 400 degrees C. to form a sheet structure; and d) maintaining a constant pressure of at least 1.3 MPa on the sheet structure while cooling the structure to a temperature below 100 degrees C.

    摘要: A composition and process suitable for making acoustic tiles are disclosed. Certain embodiments of the composition comprise: perlite; inorganic material selected from the group consisting of calcium sulfate, calcium carbonate, clay and mixtures thereof; a binder selected from the group consisting of starch, a combination of starch and cellulosic fibers, latex, kraft paper gel and mixtures thereof; optionally mineral wool; optionally gypsum; and cellulosic fiber, wherein at least a portion of the cellulosic fiber and at least a portion of the inorganic material are pulp and paper processing waste comprising cellulosic fiber, clay and calcium carbonate. Certain embodiments of the process comprise: forming an aqueous slurry; continuously flowing slurry onto a moving foraminous wire to form a cake; dewatering the cake to form a base mat; and drying the base mat.

    摘要: The method of this invention adheres a low emissivity radiant barrier material to an underlying lignocellulosic substrate within the primary manufacturing operation of the underlying lignocellulosic substrate. Thus, a radiant barrier covered substrate is formed by integrally joining the radiant barrier covering to a mat of lignocellulosic material during consolidation thereof with a first adhesive bonding material to form an underlying substrate. The integral joining operation can, for example, be accomplished by bonding the radiant barrier covering to a lignocellulosic mat in a product formation press. This is typically accomplished using a second adhesive bonding material for adhesion of the radiant barrier material to the lignocellulosic mat, and a first adhesive bonding material for consolidating the lignocellulosic mat to form a lignocellulosic substrate. More specifically, this invention is directed to a method whereby a low emissivity radiant barrier material is joined in situ to a mat of lignocellulosic particles using a second adhesive material, during the consolidation of the lignocellulosic particles and a first adhesive bonding material to form an underlying substrate, an integral laminated radiant barrier covered lignocellulosic product being produced.

In operation the roll contacts the formable, acoustical tile fiber composition pulp with sufficient force as to disspell the pulp, vent air that may be between the roll and the pulp surface through the roll, and produce a reversed pattern of the roll upon the pulp surface, then releasing the pulp from the surface of the roll by rotation of the roll.

    摘要: Polymer, co-polymer and/or elastomer containing paper is manufactured for a wide variety of end uses. The paper is remarkably homogeneous and retains its porosity even when it contains large quantities of polymer, co-polymer or elastomer. The latex and the fibrous slurry are mixed at the wet end in conjunction with a polyelectrolyte bridging agent, the bridging agent having a cationic charge and the latex and fibrous material having an anionic charge. In this way, the latex particles in their substantially original size become linked with the fibrous material by means of the intermediate bridging agent and without the latex undergoing any substantially coagulation or precipitation.
