Abstract: A magnetic self-latching device for a gate has a main body with handles on either side for operation or has an arrangement to be remotely actuated. A latching body has a high strength magnet usually provided at the bottom of a cavity which defines a latching shoulder. The latching body is adapted to be fixed to a gate post. The main body, with its housing, can be mounted on the gate frame and incorporates a latch pin which, in the door-closed position, is displaced by magnetic attraction to an extended latching position and against the biasing of a return spring. The gate cannot be opened until actuation of the mechanism occurs, for example by rotating a handle to retract the pin against the magnetic force; the gate can then be swung open. When the handle is released, the biasing spring retains the latch pin in a retracted position.

Abstract: A two point door latch device having a master latch assembly, an auxiliary latch assembly, a linkage operationally joining the master latch assembly and the auxiliary latch assembly, and a handle for operating the master latch assembly. Both the master latch assembly and the auxiliary latch assembly have bolts with beveled heads that extend from their respective housings or brackets when in a locked state, and both include springs which tend the bias the bolts to their unlocked states absent the handle being in the lock position. Furthermore, if the linkage becomes disconnected from the master latch assembly and/or the auxiliary latch assembly, or the linkage breaks, the springs will cause the bolts of the master latch assembly and the auxiliary latch assembly to be retracted to an opened state.

Abstract: A barrier release mechanism for a construction including a barrier and frame has a latch biased towards an unlatching position. Abstract: A magnetic gate latch device to secure a gate in a locked position to a fence or other barrier to close or block a portal formed therein comprising a latch assembly including a lower latch pin coupled to an upper latch pin actuator by an intermediate interconnecting element mounted to the fence or other barrier adjacent the portal wherein the lower latch pin is normally biased in upper or unlocked position and a keeper assembly including a keeper base affixed to the gate and a keeper arm extending outwardly therefrom having a latch pin recess formed therein with a latch pin positioner comprising a vertically disposed magnet disposed adjacent the latch pin recess such that when the gate is closed the vertically disposed magnet of the latch pin positioner moves the lower latch pin, intermediate interconnecting element and upper latch pin from the normally biased upper or unlocked position to a lower or locked position drawing the latch pin into the latch pin recess against the force of the bias and when as the upper latch pin actuator is moved upwardly the intermediate interconnecting element and the lower latch pin are moved upwardly withdrawing the lower latch pin from the latch pin recess to permit the gate to be opened as the bias maintains the lower latch pin in upper or unlocked position.
