    摘要: A wind turbine rotor blade defined by a tip point, a shoulder, a maximum chord interval which is defined as the radial interval over which the blade chord is no less that 95% of the shoulder chord and which extends over at least 15% of the entire blade length, and an outer blade interval extending from the maximum chord interval to the tip point, wherein the outer blade interval has a concave hyperbolic chord distribution from the maximum chord interval towards the tip point. Further a method for optimizing the chord distribution of a wind turbine blade layout is provided, wherein the chord distribution is optimized by optimizing the chord distribution in the maximum chord interval by maximizing the ratio of the annual energy production to the loads acting on the blade and in the outer blade interval with respect to the annual energy production alone.

The wind turbine airfoil can include a leading edge, a trailing edge, an upper curved surface, a lower curved surface, and a centerline running between the upper surface and the lower surface and from the leading edge to the trailing edge. The airfoil can be configured so that the distance between the centerline and the upper surface is the same as the distance between the centerline and the lower surface at all points along the length of the airfoil. A plurality of such airfoils can be included in a vertical axis wind turbine. These airfoils can be vertically disposed and can rotate about a vertical axis.

    摘要: A wind turbine system includes a shaft, a rotor for driving the shaft, and a first fluidic teeter control assembly. The rotor includes a first blade engaged to the shaft by a hub, and has a degree of freedom to pivot relative to the shaft. A first teeter angle is defined between an instantaneous position of the first blade and a time-averaged plane of rotation of the first blade. The first fluidic teeter control assembly is engaged between the rotor and the shaft for providing a first dynamic teeter restraining force as a function of the first teeter angle and a fluidic resistance. The first dynamic restraining force is relatively low when the first teeter angle is within a first teeter operation range, and the first dynamic restraining force is higher when the first teeter angle is outside that range.

    摘要: A method of using a delta shaped blade as an aircraft propeller, helicopter or autogiro rotor, or wind turbine propeller is presented. The invention combines the delta blade system with the use of torsion bars to achieve desirable control of blade twist. The invention uses blade twist to control the air loading on the craft; hence better control of maneuvering is achieved. The invention also optionally includes adjustable blade roots such that the sweep and aspect ratio of the delta blade is controllably variable. Compared to traditional propeller blade configurations, the invention boasts improved performance and enhanced aeroelastic properties. The invention is a far more efficient system providing economic advantages, higher speeds, and more durable designs.

    摘要: A wind turbine includes a nacelle mounted atop a tower. Power generating components are housed within the nacelle. A rotor hub is rotationally coupled to the power generating components. A plurality of blades are fixed to the rotor hub. The blades include a root section extending radially outward from the rotor hub and an aerodynamic section extending radially outward from the root section, wherein lift is generated by the blades primarily along the aerodynamic section. Aerodynamic fins extend radially outward from the rotor hub alongside the root sections of the blades and have an aerodynamic shape so as to capture wind and impart rotational torque to the hub from a central impinging wind zone that is coaxial to the rotor hub and the blade root sections.

    摘要: A wind turbine rotor blade is provided which includes a root end and a tip end located opposite the root end. A leading edge extends from the root end to the tip end. A trailing edge extends from the root end to the tip end. A span direction is defined by a line extending linearly from the root end to the tip end. A chord direction is perpendicular to the span direction and lies in the plane extending through the leading edge and the trailing edge. A shoulder is the point of the maximum chord-wise extension. An airfoil portion extends from the shoulder to the tip end. The airfoil portion comprises a span-wise interval begging before the tip end and extending to or close to the tip end and in which the distribution of the chord-wise extension is increased as compared to the load optimised distribution of the chord-wise extension.
