    摘要: A rate sensor for angular/rotational acceleration includes a housing defining a fluid cavity essentially completely filled with an electrolyte fluid. Within the housing, such as a toroid, ions in the fluid are swept during movement from an excitation electrode toward one of two output electrodes to provide a signal for directional rotation. One or more ground electrodes within the housing serve to neutralize ions, thus preventing any effect at the other output electrode.

    摘要: An apparatus for detecting the flow direction of a fluid between two enclosed spaces, such as hospital rooms, includes a conduit extending along a horizontal plane and adapted to receive the fluid. A detecting element is disposed within the conduit and movable in the direction of fluid flow, the detecting element being in direct contact with the fluid. A sensing element is coupled to the conduit for determining when the detecting element reaches a predetermined position within the conduit. Circuitry coupled to the sensing element, enables selection of a desired flow direction and actuates an alarm when the detected flow direction is other than the one selected.

    摘要: The low flow monitor provides a means for determining if a fluid flow meets a minimum threshold level of flow. The low flow monitor operates with a minimum of intrusion by the flow detection device into the flow. The electrical portion of the monitor is externally located with respect to the fluid stream which allows for repairs to the monitor without disrupting the flow. The electronics provide for the adjustment of the threshold level to meet the required conditions. The apparatus can be modified to provide an upper limit to the flow monitor by providing for a parallel electronic circuit which provides for a bracketing of the desired flow rate.

    摘要: A flow sensor for detecting the absence of a minimum fluid flow in a sprinkler system. The fluid acts upon a vane positioned in the fluid path. Movement of the vane controls the position of a slider. The slider's surface has reflective and nonreflective ends which, in response to the vane's movement reflect or absorb light from a light emission and detection means. The voltages from the light emission and detection means are monitored for indications of the fluid flow. The sensor uses a two wire signal transmitting system.

    摘要: The propulsive force on an optical transmission line member moving through a tubular passageway can be varied so the line travels at or close to optimum speed without risk of damage to the line or associated apparatus. A curve is provided in a portion of the passageway such that a transmission line subject to unacceptable compressive forces buckles towards the outer side of the curve. A sensor detects the presence or absence of the line at this point and a control circuit varies the propulsive force. Excessive tension in the fibre may also be detected. A modified system uses deflectors to ensure that buckling occurs by bowing in the direction towards the sensor with the transmission line undeflected under correct tension. The invention finds particular application in a method of fibre blowing where an optical fibre transmission line is propelled along a tube by fluid drag.

    摘要: A seed monitor for a multiple station planter includes a light source adjacent each seed path and a pair of phototransistors positioned in alignment with each light source. The phototransistors for each seed path are connected to pulse generating means, each of which provide a constant width pulse in response to an interruption in light received by a phototransistor from its light source. An OR gate is connected to the pulse generating means so as to provide an output signal whenever there is a pulse at one of its inputs. The light sources for the multiple seed paths may be operated to periodically monitor each planting station.
