摘要: A hybrid pulse compression RF system is provided herein in which an enhanced noise waveform and a hybrid waveform are generated to detect a target. For example, the system includes a signal generator that generates an LFM waveform and an enhanced waveform in sequence such that a transmitter of the system transmits the waveforms in the generated sequence in a direction of a possible target. The enhanced waveform may be a partially randomized version of the LFM waveform. If a target is present, the waveforms reflect off the target and are captured by the system in the sequence in which the originally generated waveforms are transmitted. Once captured, the reflected waveforms are processed by the system to generate a hybrid waveform for display such that the range and Doppler resolution and detection capabilities are significantly superior to the state of the art LFM or noise waveform RF systems.

The method includes simultaneously transmitting at least two narrowband signals from a source and receiving incident signals at a receiver. Multiple narrowband signals can be sent simultaneously and in combination with broadband signals from a source. The incident signals are filtered and processed to determine range and Doppler shift of the target.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for using Fourier techniques to detect and isolate the fundamental frequency sweep of echolocation calls produced by bats, or of other narrow-band whistles as produced by other kinds of animals such as birds and whales. According to one example, a Fourier transform is applied on blocks of input samples to produce output frames, and a narrowband frequency modulated signal is detected and traced through the output frames. A filter is applied in each frame to attenuate frequencies above or below the narrowband signal, and an inverse Fourier transform is applied to produce an output signal. The resulting signal may then be analyzed with zero crossing techniques to measure the precise instantaneous frequency sweep.

摘要: A transmission wave corresponding to an FM continuous wave having been subjected to an FM modulation processing is transmitted from a transmitting transducer. A pre-amplifier generates a reception RF signal and outputs the reception RF signal to a receiving mixer. The receiving mixer applies orthogonal detection to the reception RF signal to generate a complex signal. A reference signal supplied to each mixer in the receiving mixer is generated based on an FM continuous wave output from an FM modulator. The FM continuous wave output from the FM modulator is delayed by a delay circuit, and one signal is directly supplied to a mixer whereas the other signal is supplied to a mixer via a π/2 shift circuit. The delay circuit applies a delay processing in accordance with a depth of a target position within a living organism to the FM continuous wave.

摘要: A sonar system having a sonar transmitter which is programmed to broadcastwo sets of several increasing frequency signals, with the frequency gap between each set thereof sufficient to cause them to distinguish between deep and shallow water targets, respectively. A heterodyne receiver receives target echoes of said sets of several frequency signals and converts them to two sets of identical frequency signals which are then readout as a single continuous target display signal.

摘要: This invention is directed to improved pseudorandom noise velocimeters and methods therefor, using the Doppler effect, to enable the external measurement of the speed of a moving target within a fixed conveying medium. In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention a continuous pseudorandom ultrasonic noise signal formed by a repetitive code C having n different elementary segments S is radiated. Correlation between a received echo and the delayed radiated signal is accomplished by proceeding successively for each elementary segment, using a different measuring band, for a period corresponding to the period of each segment. The correlation values thus obtained are then stored and thereafter a Doppler low frequency curve is reconstituted by regrouping the correlation values corresponding to the different elementary segments of the repetitive code.

摘要: A sensory aid for the blind in which a frequency swept ultra-sonic carrier signal is generated and radiated as acoustic energy from a head set and reflected acoustic energy is received by two spaced apart receiving transducers which feed a two channel receiver. The receiving transducers have divergent polar lobes which in combination with the polar lobe of the transmitting transducer simulate the characteristics of a normal human auditory system. The carrier signal is multiplied with each received signal to produce respective beat frequency signals each of which have a frequency and level which is dependant on the range and direction respectively of the source of reflection with respect to the user. The gain of both channels is controlled synchronously by controlling the level of the carrier signal multiplied with each received signal. The range of gain control can be increased by feeding the transmitting transducer with the controlled level carrier signal.
