Abstract: High-power light absorbers (HPLAs) can exhibit low back-scattered light, mitigate stray light, and withstand high optical power. The absorbers can be used with or without baffling as beam dumps for high-power lasers. An HPLA may include a substrate made of high thermally conductive material with an anti-reflection (AR) coating formed on the substrate. A thin layer of highly absorbing material may be located between the AR coating and substrate. The substrate can be cooled with a fluid, such as water or air.

Abstract: Excitation used to produce luminescence is cancelled using interference with an excitation cancelling beam by controlling or setting a phase difference. An excitation beam and an excitation cancelling beam are produced from a common source and the excitation beam directed quantum light emitter to produce luminescence. A residual excitation beam and the excitation cancelling beam are coupled to interfere destructively so that the luminescence is available for detection or otherwise without substantial portions of the excitation beam.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a display device in the field of display. The display device comprises a plurality of sub-pixel areas, each of which corresponds to one color, wherein the display device comprises a reflecting interface, a photon conversion layer, and a light filter layer arranged sequentially along a display light emergent direction; in the sub-pixel area corresponding to a target color: the light filter layer is structured to transmit light within a first wavelength range in the display light emergent direction and reflect the light within a second wavelength range, wherein the first wavelength range refers to the wavelength range corresponding to the target color, and the second wavelength range includes a visible light waveband excluding the first wavelength range; the reflecting interface is structured to reflect the light from the light filter layer; and the photon conversion layer is structured to convert the transmitted light within a third wavelength range to the light within the first wavelength range, the third wavelength range is a preset wavelength range beyond the first wavelength range and the second wavelength range includes the third wavelength range. The present disclosure can improve the color conversion efficiency of the display device.

Abstract: An optical transmitter that narrows the linewidth of its output light is disclosed. The optical transmitter includes a wavelength tunable laser diode (LD) known as a CSG-DR LD integrated with a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) driven in a constant magnitude mode. The wavelength of the light output from the LD is determined by transmission through an etalon filter. The optical transmitter feeds the output of the etalon filter back to an injection current supplied to the LD to reduce phase noise inherently contained in the output light.

Abstract: A Fabry-Perot etalon is provided with first and second partially reflecting mirrors (12, 14) attached to a cuboidal spacer (16). The spacer (16) has a cylindrical bore (18) through its center and the mirrors (12, 14) are bonded, on axis, to opposite ends of this bore (18). Four support elements (22-28) are arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis in a tetrahedral configuration and constrain the cuboidal spacer (16) in all degrees of freedom. The cuboidal spacer (16) is flattened at its vertices, which results in modified distortion of the spacer (16) under the action of a compressive force acting through the supports. This structure of etalon provides insensitivity to inertial forces due to acceleration in all six degrees of freedom (three linear and three rotational) simultaneously with insensitivity to differential forces.
