    摘要: An example method may include determining a drag force of an apparent wind on an aircraft that is coupled to a ground station via a tether. The method also includes determining a trajectory of the aircraft to a point downwind of the ground station such that the aircraft travelling the trajectory causes the tether to unfurl along a catenary path above ground. The method further includes determining an orientation of the aircraft to travel the trajectory in the apparent wind so that an actuator of the aircraft is configured to provide a vertical thrust in a direction substantially perpendicular to the ground. The method also includes determining a vertical thrust for the aircraft at the orientation to travel the trajectory in the apparent wind. The method also includes providing instructions to cause the actuator of the aircraft to provide the vertical thrust to move the aircraft along the trajectory.

    摘要: A system for use in generating a command trajectory for an aircraft is provided. The system includes a natural frequency determining module configured to determine a closure rate of the aircraft to a selected flight path, compare the closure rate of the aircraft to a threshold closure rate, and calculate a natural frequency based on whether the closure rate is below the threshold closure rate. The system further includes a command processor coupled to the natural frequency determining module and configured to receive the calculated natural frequency from the natural frequency determining module, and generate a command trajectory using the calculated natural frequency.

    摘要: One or more tethered platforms, each having three or more, mill rotors, are operated at altitudes in relatively high winds to generate electricity. These windmill kites use one or more electro-mechanical tethers on each platform. Their position, attitude and orientation are monitored by one or more GPS receivers and/or gyros and controlled through differential thrusts and torque-reactions produced by the mill rotors. The kites can be electrically powered from a ground supply during relatively calm periods, or landed if desired. During windy periods the kites may be used to generate electricity by tilting the rotors at an angle, or incidence to the on-coming wind. In this generate mode the mill rotors simultaneously develop thrust while generating electricity.
