Abstract: A biometrics authentication device for authenticating a person by comparing biometric features of a body part of the person with pre-stored biometric features of body parts of a plurality of registered persons is configured to: capture image data of the body part of the person; determine from the captured image data at least one characteristic geometric body part property of the body part of the person and biometric features of the body part of the person; limit comparison of the biometric features of the body part of the person to pre-stored biometric features of body parts of the plurality of registered persons which have a predefined similarity level with the at least one characteristic geometric body part property of the person.

Abstract: A system for a functionalized pane in a door, through which person-based and/or object-based authorization verification can be carried out is provided. The person-based verification can include a holography-based, stereoscopic holocamera that can be integrated into the pane. In addition, a holographic display that can also be integrated into the pane can be included. Corresponding methods can be used to carry out the authorization verification under the control of the control device and to control a locking mechanism of a door and a holographic display.

Abstract: A fingerprinting solution that uses neural network (NN) based trained Machine Learning (ML) modules in combination with traditional image processing for contactless fingerprint capture, liveness detection to rule out fake fingers, and fingerprint matching using a portable handheld device with integrated camera, thereby eliminating the need for a special device dedicated for fingerprinting. The trained NN modules detect the size and direction of fingers in the captured image, check if fingers are reversed in the image (thereby making nails visible), check if the thumb of the correct hand is captured, and generate fixed-length fingerprint templates for subsequent matching of fingerprints. Three dimensional (3D) depth map of a finger is used to bring the fingerprint resolution to 500 dpi and eliminate distortion caused by the curvature of the finger shape to improve accuracy while scaling and flattening a fingerprint image. The solution facilitates contactless-to-contactless as well as contactless-to-contact based fingerprint matching.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a biometric sensor. One or more processors of the electronic device or a pre-processor of the biometric sensor detect actuation of the biometric sensor. The one or more processors or the pre-processor can then determine whether at least one predefined condition is occurring concurrently with actuation of the biometric sensor. Where it is, the one or more processors or pre-processor can preclude the biometric sensor from processing received biometric data samples while the predefined condition is occurring. Illustrating by example, the one or more processors or pre-processor can discard the biometric data samples while the biometric sensor remains operational.
