摘要: A payment terminal computer program may track entry to, presence in, and exit from an area using ultrawideband (UWB) radio technology by: receiving, from an UWB radio, first information to determine a first distance between a UWB radio-enabled mobile electronic device and the UWB radio or a first position of the UWB radio-enabled mobile electronic device; determining that the UWB radio-enabled mobile electronic device is at an entrance to the area based on the first distance or position; receiving, from the UWB radio, second information to determine a second distance between the UWB radio-enabled mobile electronic device and the UWB radio or a second position of the UWB radio-enabled mobile electronic device; determining that the UWB radio-enabled mobile electronic device is at an exit from the area based on the second distance or position; and determining a fee based on the first communication and the second communication.

摘要: A system and method in which the Bluetooth technology is used in conjunction with a user application on a mobile device to facilitate hands-free fare validation at a transit station. The user app communicates with a controller driver in a controller unit that interfaces with a compliant fare gate. Bluetooth beacons are used to determine a passenger's proximity to the gate and camera-like devices determine whether a passenger has entered a fare validation zone. A user with a valid and active electronic ticket on their mobile device may simply walk through the fare gate “hands free” without the need to search for a physical ticket or a smartcard or a mobile phone. This hassle-free approach significantly improves the user experience and passenger throughput through fare gates. The Bluetooth-based automated fare validation system also detects passengers with valid electronic tickets and those without a valid permit for travel.

摘要: A fare gate in a transportation system including a barrier, a sensor, and an actuator. The actuator moves the barrier from the open position into the closed position. The sensor is mounted on the barrier and in one position captures sensor data across an aisle formed by the fare gate. A transit user in front of the barrier in another position is identified by the sensor. The transit user passes through the fare gate using the aisle. The actuator moves the barrier from a closed position to an open position to clear passage through the aisle. Using the sensor, the aisle is scanned with a movement of the barrier. The sensor is calibrated based on a predetermined point with movement of the barrier to align the sensor and the predetermined point.

摘要: Embodiments of the invention(s) described herein enable a system that may rely on a biometric identifier entry validation system The validation system uses biometric methods such as facial recognition, palm veins, and thumb prints as an entry or passage token. The validation system associates a form of fare media such as a smartcard or other electronic payment method with the biometric identifier after repeated transactions where both the fare media and the biometric identifier are read. In this manner the biometric identifier becomes a biometric token that replaces the need to use a form of fare media. Accordingly, the biometric identifier user can be validated for passage without the need to carry a form of fare media and, in some cases, in different geographic locations.
