    Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for detecting potentially unauthorized access to an enclosure. The system and method use an input device, wherein the input device includes a user interface comprising a communication tilt plate with a front side and a back side. The front side comprising an outer touch surface and the back side includes electronic components mounted thereon. The back side also includes a raised center pivot and a plurality of spring loaded switches mounted thereon disposed around the periphery of the back side of the tilt plate. In this way, tilting the communication tilt plate by pressing proximate the periphery of the outer touch surface activates one or more of the spring-loaded switches mounted on the back side of the tilt plate and thereby transmit an access code to a control module. The system and method further include detecting movement of an access barrier of an enclosure and detecting whether a motor and or the access code was used to move the access barrier. The user is notified in the event the access barrier was moved without using the motor and or the access code.

One representative embodiment includes: messaging units disposed at different locations within a space, each including at least one light source (e.g., light-emitting diode or LED); at least one messaging/modulation controller coupled to the light sources and configured to turn the light sources on and off so as to broadcast input digital messages; a central server coupled to the messaging/modulation controller(s) and configured to selectively provide messages to the messaging/modulation controller(s) for broadcast by different messaging units; and an associate device coupled to the central server and configured to: (a) display a user interface for manually inputting information about individuals within the space and (b) provide such information to the central server, where the central server selects messages to be broadcast by the messaging units based on the information received from the associate device.

    Abstract: A method is provided for interacting with audience members in an event, each of the potential attendees having available thereto a unique identifier. The method comprises creating, for an attendee, a unique ID (UID) on a mobile wireless device (MWD) by the steps of inputting to the MWD one of the unique identifiers, combining the obtained unique identifier with a UID time stamp at the time of creation of the UID; receiving with a server on a first wireless channel communications from the MWD; registering the UID at the physical location of the event; generating a visual query; displaying on the MWD response indicators; receiving at the server from the registered attendee a response, to the query over the first wireless channel; and storing in a database on the server the received response in association with the displayed query.
