A measuring device and method is for enabling a user to measure and record changes in emotion during the day and translate it into a relative stress value per day. It may be used to accumulate the positive and negative emotional reactions that a user experiences during a predetermined time period. This method and device will provide a record of the associated distress and eustress and the cumulative effect therefrom on the individual. The user has a visual display of whether or not the emotions felt during a given day are positive or negative. The recognition of the stress level may remind or enable the user to take some action that will counterbalance excessive negative emotions known to contribute to major diseases and engage in activities that reduce or relieve the stress influences on the user before the end of each day.

A method of playing a game which includes (i) a game board which is divided into a plurality of sections such that each of the sections defines a playing location, (ii) a number disposed on each of the playing locations, (iii) a plurality of cards, and (iv) a number disposed on each of the cards is disclosed. The game includes the steps of (a) providing a game player with a multiplicity of the cards, (b) the game player determining if the number indicated on any one of the cards is a first mathematical multiple of the number indicated on any one of the playing locations, (d) removing from the multiplicity of the cards a first card that has the number indicated thereon which is the first mathematical multiple of the number indicated on one of the playing locations, and (e) positioning the first card on one of the playing locations such that the number indicated on the first card is the first mathematical multiple of the number indicated on the playing location on which the first card is positioned.

A mathematical teaching apparatus comprising block elements that fit inside a block element container. The block element container will not close until the proper number of block elements are inserted. For teaching counting and addition concepts for a number base, such as base ten, a user will quickly grasp the concepts of grouping an arbitrary number of block elements into units, such as ones, tens and hundreds. A container for holding block element containers is also provided. The block elements and containers have the same shape, and maintain a proportional ratio with each other. All block elements and containers are counted and grouped using a counting devices which provide an indication of the number of units of each type present. The counting devices also signal when ten block elements or ten block element containers are inserted, signaling to a user that the block elements or containers should be inserted into a next-larger size container. A method of teaching using the mathematical apparatus is also presented. The mathematical teaching apparatus allows children to learn the concepts of number magnitude, addition and subtraction, including carrying and borrowing. A computer program implementing these ideas can also be used to present the mathematical concepts.

The corresponding melody block is lit up to display a playing melody block while playing a melody. It is possible to differentiate each melody block by detecting, with a mechanical switch, uneven patterns formed at the lower sides of melody blocks. Since music can be visually understood, the block toy can help the emotion and music education of children.

By concurrently throwing or reversing one or several single vowel cubes and the single consonant cubes, the settled vowel letter surface and the letter surface facing upward further offer other phonetic practice. A serial vowel area and a serial consonant area on the single vowel cube and on the single consonant cube could help users swiftly find the letters. Serial numbers on each of the single vowel cubes and on each of the single consonant cubes are served for a speedy placement. Such teaching aid has a simple structure and low manufacturing cost. Moreover, since there are letters presented on each side of the cubes, a diverse arrangement is achieved. The present invention accomplishes a convenient utilization and diverse functions.
