    摘要: An immersion based ultrasonic inspection system is disclosed which is used to interrogate the bore and near bore material of turbine and generator rotors by passing ultrasonic search units through the rotor bore. This system utilizes variable focus array inspection transducers in a shear mode inspection of the near bore material. A ranging transducer is provided which is used to correct the surface time of the inspection beam. A mapping transducer and blind bore sensor allow diameter mapping of the rotor bore as well as a blind rotor end sensing as the scan head carrying the transducers enters the bore. A scan head centering device or chuck deploys four radial arms to center and support the scan head. Each arm has a roller attached to the end which contacts the bore and rolls along so that the bore will not be damaged as the scan head passes through the bore. The chuck is driven by an electric motor and coupled to a resolver allowing the chuck to be adjusted according to bore geometry mapped by the mapping transducer. The chuck includes a pneumatic disengagement device for fail-safe disengagement of the centering arms to allow retrieval of the scan head in the event of motor or wiring failure. The chuck also includes cable pathways for control cables for the various scan head motion axes. An inspection transducer carriage is provided that provides three axes of motion to the inspection transducer. A radial motion is provided by two radial support assemblies driven by an electric motor and coupled to a resolver allowing radial position to be accurately determined.

    摘要: An instrument for viscoelastic measurement, particularly for breast palpation, uses a sensing transducer head which contains at least two spaced, relatively small area transducers. The transducers can be fixed relative to a glove to be worn by an examiner or can be otherwise supported. The transducers have output leads connected to monitoring circuits which monitor differences in output of the transducers when both are pressed against breast tissue in order to sense thickened areas which may be too small to be sensed by manual palpation. The transducer may be attached to a position monitor so that the transducer head output can be continuously related to the location in space of the transducer head, and the output can be displayed in a suitable display.

The sound separating system includes a sound source localizing part, including at least one microphone and a processing unit, and an object direction reference determination part, determining, as object direction reference, information on directions of the object of interest with respect to the sound source localizing part; wherein the processing unit obtains information on a direction from which sound arrives at the sound source localizing part from the sound source by using microphone signal, and comparing it with the object direction reference so as to filter the sound from the background of the sound source. By having the sound separating system, it can extract the background noise from a specific device respective location and analyse only these signals from the object of interest.

    摘要: During shock wave therapy, a determination is made that a kidney stone has begun to fracture, and then to assess a progress of its fragmentation. This determination can reduce the number of shock waves used to disintegrate kidney stones, and thereby reduce dose-dependent tissue damage. The identification of fracture is possible through the detection and analysis of resonant acoustic scattering, which is the radiation caused by reverberations within a stone particle that is stuck by a shock wave. The scattering frequency can provide both an indication that the kidney stone has fragmented, and an indication of the relative sizes of the fragments. Related concepts employ displacement measurements of kidney stones/fragments to provide both an indication that the kidney stone has fragmented, and an indication of the relative sizes of the fragments. Such techniques can be combined with vibro-acoustography based gating that better targets the stone.

    摘要: The present disclosure is directed at a method and system for shaping a membrane a capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer, or CMUT. A bias voltage is asymmetrically applied to a membrane of the CMUT such that the membrane is directed to send ultrasonic waves that propagate along a propagation axis that is not parallel with a propagation axis along which ultrasonic waves propagate when the bias voltage is symmetrically applied to the membrane. In this way, the ultrasonic waves that are generated using a CMUT array can be physically steered to or focused on a target. Steering and focusing ultrasonic waves by altering the shape of the membrane by asymmetrically biasing the membrane reduces grating lobes and can also be used as part of an adaptive control system that can improve ultrasound image quality.

    摘要: An immersion base ultrasonic inspection system for interrogating the bore and near bore material of turbine and generator rotors by passing ultrasonic search units through the rotor bore.
