    摘要: Systems and methods for improving the accuracy of test measurements involving aggressor tracks written to the disks are provided. One such method involves erasing a circumferential band of a disk, writing a central track on the circumferential band, measuring and storing a first track profile of the central track, writing an aggressor track on each side of the central track at a preselected aggressor track offset from the central track, measuring and storing a track profile of the aggressor tracks at the preselected aggressor track offset, measuring and storing a second track profile of the central track, performing the prior actions exactly n times where n is greater than or equal to 1, determining an estimated distance between the aggressor tracks based on the respective track profiles, determining a selected measurement using the estimated distance between the aggressor tracks, and the first and second track profiles of the central track.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a disk protrusion detection/flatness measurement circuit and a disk glide tester, in which protrusion detection and average value calculation can be performed without switching signal processing circuits of two systems, one for the protrusion detection of a disk and the other for the average value calculation with respect to a track or a sector of the disk. This also makes it possible to reduce the size of the measurement circuit. In the protrusion detection/flatness measurement circuit, a signal from a protrusion detection sensor is amplified and converted from an analog signal to a digital signal. The signal passes through a band-pass filter to obtain a digital signal with a predetermined bandwidth. Then, peak detection and average value calculation processes are applied in parallel to the obtained digital signal. Thus, pass/fail decision of the disk can be made based on the detected peak and average values.

An analog to digital converter samples the amplified data signal output therefrom to generate a digital data signal. A peak bottom detector detects a peak level and a bottom level of the digital data signal. A threshold controller compares the peak and bottom levels with a threshold value, and generates a first control signal accordingly. An auto gain controller updates the gain value based on the peak and bottom levels with a first step size. The first step size is determined by the first control signal.
