    摘要: A harmonic mixer that suppresses the degradation of the conversion efficiency is disclosed. That harmonic mixer includes an input transmission line, an output transmission line, and two transistors connected in parallel between the input transmission line and the output transmission line. Two transistors are complementarily driven by a local signal LO and generate an output signal RF with frequencies of 2×fLO±fIF, where fLO and fIF are frequencies of a local signal LO and an intermediate signal IF.

    摘要: Methods for down converting a modulated carrier signal to a demodulated baseband signal are described herein. The method requires that a first portion of energy is transferred from the modulated carrier signal, and stored at a first storage device when a first switch is on. At least some of the energy stored in the first storage device is discharged when the first switch is off. The method further comprises transferring a second portion of energy from the modulated carrier signal, storing at a second storage device the second portion of transferred energy when a second switch is on, and discharging at least some of the energy stored in the second storage device when the second switch is off. A down-converted in-phase baseband signal portion is generated from the energy accumulated in the first storage device while both the charging and the discharging occurs, and a down-converted inverted in-phase baseband signal portion is generated from the energy accumulated in the second storage device while both the charging and the discharging occurs, and the two portions are combined with a first differential amplifier circuit to form a down-converted differential in-phase baseband signal.

    摘要: Methods, systems, and apparatus for down converting a modulated carrier signal to a demodulated baseband signal are described herein. A first switch is controlled with a first control signal which comprises a first sampling aperture with a specified frequency, wherein the first switch is on during the first sampling aperture and wherein the first switch is off outside the first sampling aperture. A second switch is controlled with a second control signal which comprises a second sampling aperture with a specified frequency, wherein the second switch is on during the second sampling aperture and wherein the second switch is off outside the second sampling aperture. The first and second control signals each control a charging and discharging cycle of a respective energy storage element so that for each switch a portion of energy is transferred to the respective energy storage element when the respective switch is on during the charging cycle, and a portion of previously transferred energy is discharged during the discharging cycle for each respective switch when the switch is off. A down-converted in-phase baseband signal portion is derived from energy accumulated at said first energy storage element during both the charging and the discharging cycles for the first energy storage element and a down-converted inverted in-phase baseband signal portion is derived from energy accumulated at said second energy storage element during both the charging and the discharging cycles for the second energy storage element, and the two portions are combined with a first differential amplifier circuit to form a down-converted differential in-phase baseband signal.

    摘要: A harmonic rejection mixer is disclosed that is capable of supporting wideband reception without any increase in circuit area. In this apparatus, transistors convert an RF signal to currents. Transistors perform frequency conversion based on the currents from the transistors and local oscillation signals. Transistors distribute the currents from the transistors to all transistors or some transistors based on a predetermined ratio. A load adds up the currents from the transistors and converts the resultant current to a voltage.

    摘要: A frequency shift-keying reader circuit includes a band-pass filter, a low noise amplifier, a first balun, an injection-lock divide-by-2 frequency divider, a sub-harmonic mixer and a low-pass filter. The band-pass filter performs a filtering procedure to a radio frequency signal, wherein the filtered radio-frequency signal is received by the low noise amplifier to provide an injection signal, and the injection signal is received by the first balun to generate a first differential signal and a second differential signal. The injection signal is received by the injection-lock divide-by-2 frequency divider to provide a first oscillation signal and a second oscillation signal, wherein the first differential signal, the second differential signal, the first oscillation signal and the second oscillation signal are received by the sub-harmonic mixer for performing a mixing procedure and thereafter generating an output signal, the low-pass filter performs a filtering procedure to the output signal.

    摘要: A mixer circuit is disclosed. The mixer circuit comprises a plurality of mixer elements, wherein there are non-overlapping clock signals provided to the plurality of mixer elements which have a duty cycle of 33 ⅓ percent. Outputs signals of the mixer elements do not contain third order harmonic content of the non-overlapping clock signals. The third-order harmonic of the mixer is eliminated by using mixer which uses voltage sampling on non-overlapping clocks and thereby achieves high linearity. The mixer circuit is further expanded to remove the 1-0 image and even order harmonics.

    摘要: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for down-converting an electromagnetic (EM) signal by aliasing the EM signal are described herein. Such methods, systems, and apparatuses operate by receiving an EM signal and an aliasing signal having an aliasing rate. The EM signal is aliased according to the aliasing signal to down-convert the EM signal. The term aliasing, as used herein, refers to both down-converting an EM signal by under-sampling the EM signal at an aliasing rate, and down-converting an EM signal by transferring energy from the EM signal at the aliasing rate. In an embodiment, the EM signal is down-converted to an intermediate frequency (IF) signal. In another embodiment, the EM signal is down-converted to a emodulated baseband information signal. In another embodiment, the EM signal is a frequency modulated (FM) signal, which is down-converted to a non-FM signal, such as a phase modulated (PM) signal or an amplitude modulated (AM) signal.
