Abstract: A load control system includes a load control device and a remote control for configuring and controlling operation of the load control device. The load control device and remote control may be mounted to an electrical wallbox. The system may be configured by associating the remote control with the load control device, and actuating a button on the remote control to configure the load control device. A second remote control device may be directly or indirectly associated with the load control device. The load control device and remote control may communicate via inductive coils that are magnetically coupled together. The remote control may be operable to charge a battery from energy derived from the magnetic coupling between the inductive coils. The load control device and remote control may include near-field communication modules that are operable to communicate wirelessly via near-field radiation.

Abstract: A probe is configured for introduction into a vicinity of a hazard. The probe comprises multiple sensors, communications circuitry, processor circuitry, and a casing. The multiple sensors include at least: a sensor configured to acquire disposition information of the probe; and a sensor configured to acquire environmental information in a vicinity of the probe. The communications circuitry is configured to transmit the disposition information and the environmental information externally to the probe. The processor circuitry is configured to coordinate operation of the multiple sensors and the communications circuitry. The casing is configured to internally house the multiple sensors, the transmitter, and the processor circuitry. The casing comprises an essentially cylindrical bullet shape, and wherein along a major cylindrical axis a first end of the casing comprises a flat butt surface and a second end of the casing comprises a rounded nose surface.

Abstract: A modulation index setting circuit of a near field communication (NFC) device, includes a current detector. The current detector generates a reference current based on detecting a transmitter current flowing in a transmitter of the NFC device respectively during a non-modulation interval, and generates a modulation current based on detecting the transmitter current flowing in the transmitter of the NFC device during a modulation interval. The modulation index setting circuit changes the transmitter current based on applying a driving strength control code to the transmitter, receives the reference current and the modulation current, calculates modulation indexes associated with separate, respective code values of the driving strength control code and generates a modulation index table that stores the modulation indexes.

Abstract: A system for enabling signal penetration into a building includes a first transceiver, located on an outside of the building, for transmitting and receiving signals at a first frequency outside of the building, wherein the signals at the first frequency do not easily penetrate into an interior of the building. A first up/down converter converts between a first version of the signals at the first frequency and a second version of the signals at a second frequency. The first frequency is higher than the second frequency and the signals at the second frequency better penetrate to the interior of the building and overcome losses caused by penetrating into an interior of the building. A second up/down converter converts between the second version of the signals at the second frequency that overcomes the losses caused by penetrating into the interior of the building and a third version of the signals after transmission from the building exterior to the building interior. A router transmits and receives the third version of the signals within the interior of the building.

Abstract: A system for enabling signal penetration into a building includes first circuitry, located on an outside of the building, that receives millimeter wave signals and converting the millimeter wave signals into a format that penetrates into an interior of a building for reception by wireless devices within the building. Second circuitry, located on an inside of the building and communicatively linked with the first circuitry, receives the millimeter wave signals in the format that penetrates into an interior of the building and converts the millimeter wave signals in the format to a second format for transmission to the wireless devices within the building.
