The ECC is decoded using a decoder, which estimates soft output metrics based on the soft input metrics, by operating the decoder in an alternating pattern of external iterations that update one or more of the soft input metrics based on one or more of the soft output metrics, and internal iterations that update the soft output metrics but not the soft input metrics. The adaptive receiver loop is adjusted in a schedule that is defined relative to the pattern of the external and the internal iterations of the decoder.

The initial detecting module determines an initial carrier frequency offset of an input signal according to a spectrum of the input signal. The mixer adjusts the input signal according to the initial carrier frequency offset to generate a frequency-compensated signal. The symbol rate detecting module determines a symbol rate of the input signal. The judging module judges whether the initial carrier frequency offset is correct according to the frequency-compensated signal. When a judgment result of the judging module is negative, the correcting module determines a corrected carrier frequency offset according to the symbol rate and the spectrum.

Processing circuitry generates frame timing synchronization control signals for writing the frames of the input data for storage, generates timing error control signals corresponding to a processing delay for the input data, for synchronizing reading out the stored data from the buffer based on a timing difference between the timing error control signals and the frame timing synchronization control signals to adjust for an arbitrary delay in processing the input data. The processing circuitry can include a tap gradient update circuit for generating a tap gradient corresponding to the read out data, based on equalizer error signals generated by the processing circuitry.

An apparatus for cooperative multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) is provided. The apparatus uses a new carrier assignment scheme (CAS) called generalized interleaved CAS, along with non-data-aided timing synchronization. With the generalized interleaved CAS, random OFDM signals are formed into patterns similar to unequal period synchronization patterns (UPSPs), and a corresponding non-data-aided timing synchronization scheme is set. With the help of majority vote refinement (MVR), the present invention achieves better timing synchronization and enhances the quality of signal demodulation.

In systems that apply a frequency re-use of one, and OFDM access technology, the uplink direction need be improved. One embodiment of this application relates to a radio base station that is equipped with one or more FFT processor/s in addition to the FFT-processor that is adapted for being adjusted to the timed aligned arrival of signals from UE served by the radio base station. The additional FFT processor/s is adapted for being adjusted to the arrival of one or more signals from UE that are served by other radio base station/s. The radio base station is further adapted to send Fourier processed signal information relating to the UE of the other radio base station/s and thereby assist the other radio base station in signal reception. The application also relates to a method for assisting another radio base station in signal reception, and to a method for receiving assistance from another radio base station in signal reception.

The invention discloses an adaptive phase shift method in a multi-carrier system, comprising: generating a group of one or more new phase values for corresponding one or more phase shift carriers, PSCs, based on quantization phase values; calculating and comparing a backward maximum power in an evaluation path with the group of one or more new phase values in one timeslot and a forward maximum power in a working path with current phase values in the timeslot; and adjusting phase of the PSCs based on the group of one or more new phase values if the calculated backward maximum power is less than the calculated forward maximum power. An adaptive phase shift apparatus is also disclosed. With the invention, complexity of the implementation is reduced and a small DPS block resource, low Hardware cost, low power consumption is also achieved.
