Abstract: An electric heating mat may include an outer sleeve having an interior, and an end with an opening to the interior. The end may be folded upon itself into a closed condition, and unfolded into an opened condition. When the end is closed, the interior of the outer sleeve may provide a sealed enclosure. The sealed enclosure may accommodate and protect internal components, such as heating elements, a power source, and associated controls. The heating elements, associated wiring, and an insulation layer may be provided in an inner sleeve, which may be insertable into the outer sleeve as a unit. When the end is opened, the opening provides access to the internal components. Such access allows the power source to be turned on to supply power to the heating elements.

Abstract: A presence detection system for electrically heated wearables to safeguard against accidental battery drainage and the risk of heating elements of the wearables being accidently connected to power. The presence detection system is comprised of a capacitive touch sensor secured to an automatic switch actuation circuit. The capacitive touch sensor has an electronic circuit connected to a portable rechargeable battery supply of an associated heated wearable. The battery supply provides power to one or more heating elements secured to the heated wearable through a switch. The capacitive touch sensor is secured to the heated wearable at a position wherein a sensing face of the capacitive touch sensor can detect the presence of a wearer person. The electronic circuit generates an output signal to the automatic switch actuation circuit indicative of the presence of the wearer person. The heated wearable when removed from the wearer person, with the switch in a “closed” state continuing to supply power to the one or more heating elements and to the capacitive touch sensor, the automatic switch actuation circuit automatically actuates the switch to an “open” state to cut off the power supply.

Abstract: In selected examples, a hanger couples to an electrically-powered garment, to provide electrical energy to the garment to recharge the battery of the garment. The electrical energy may be transferred from the hanger to the garment using inductive coupling. The electrical energy may also or instead be transferred using contact coupling facilitated by magnet(s) in the interfaces of the hanger system and the garment. The garment may include biometric, environmental, and other sensors to collect data. The hanger system-garment interfaces may provide for data flow between the hanger and the garment. In selected examples, a smart garment may be controlled by a smartphone or another mobile device. The smartphone may control several smart garments, which may be connected in series and/or in parallel, with one of the smart garments being a master connected to the smartphone, and the other garments being slave garments connected to the smartphone through the master.
