    摘要: Water-soluble, non-ionic surface active compounds are provided having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently hydrogen or an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms;X is a hydrophobic substituted or unsubstituted arylene group or a hydrophobic substituted or unsubstituted alkylene group;Y.sup.1 and Y.sup.2 are each independently a chemical bond, --CO-- or --(CH.sub.2).sub.m NR.sup.3 CO--;m is an integer from 1 to 6;R.sup.3 is as defined for R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 ; and,Z.sup.1 and Z.sup.2 are each independently a hydrophilic polyhydroxyalkyl group. The compounds are particularly useful as coating aids for the coating of hydrophilic colloid layers in the preparation of photographic materials.

    摘要: A composition is disclosed for dissolving sulfur and preventing or removing sulfur plugs from sour gas and oil wells or other conduits through which sulfur bearing liquids flow which comprises a major proportion of a liquid or gaseous mercaptan, a minor proportion of a catalyst which is a substantially water-insoluble amine, and minor amount of an activator which is a compound of the formula ##STR1## where R is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or alkaryl and the alkyl moieties have from 1 to 24 carbon atoms, and x and y are independent values between 0 and 24 provided that x or y is at least 1; a method is also disclosed wherein said composition in an effective amount is injected into a conduit to prevent or remove sulfur plugging, and the composition containing dissolved sulfur is optionally recovered.

    摘要: The invention relates to a process for preparing tertiary ether amines corresponding to the following general formula: ##STR1## by reacting in the presence of a strong base a tertiary amine corresponding to the following formula: ##STR2## with a sulfuric acid semi-ester salt corresponding to the following formula:R.sup.1 --(OC.sub.n H.sub.2n).sub.x --OSO.sub.3 M. (III)Preferably, each mole of the tertiary amine corresponding to formula (II) is reacted under substantially anhydrous conditions at a temperature of 140.degree. to 230.degree. C. with from about 0.2 to 3.0 moles of the sulfuric acid semi-ester salt of formula (III) in the presence of from about 1 to 1.5 moles of a strong base preferably an alkali metal hydroxide or an alkali metal alcoholate.

    摘要: The instant invention is directed to a method for recovering surface active amines from an emulsion comprising the salt of the amine comprising (a) contacting an emulsion layer or phase containing surface active amine salt with an acid selected from the group comprising mineral acids and carbon dioxide in an amount sufficient and under conditions to produce an amine salt of said mineral acid or an amine bicarbonate, wherein said surface active amine salt is produced via emulsion fractionation with said surface active amine (b) separating an upper layer and a lower aqueous layer; (c) adding, to the lower aqueous layer, an inorganic base if step (a) utilizes a mineral acid, or heating at a temperature and for a time sufficient if step (a) utilizes carbon dioxide, to raise the pH of the aqueous layer to greater than or equal to 8; (d) blowing gas through said aqueous layer to produce a foam containing said surface active amine; (e) recovering said foam containing said surface active amine.

    摘要: This invention relates to an article comprising:(A) at least one polymer fabric treated with (B) at least one wetting agent which comprises at least one compound of the formulae ##STR1## wherein each R.sub.1 is independently a hydrocarbyl group having from about 8 to about 150 carbon atoms; each R.sub.2 is independently hydrogen, an alkyl group or polyoxyalkylene group; each R.sub.3 is independently an alkylene group; R.sub.4 is an alkyl group or polyoxyalkylene group; n is 1 to about 150; and M is a hydrogen, an ammonium cation or a metal cation.The treated polymer fabrics of the present invention have improved wicking/wetting characteristics. Further, the fabrics maintain these characteristics upon repeated exposure to fluids.
