    摘要: An apparatus for separating particles from a particulate suspension comprises a conduit comprising a plurality of elongate channels extending in adjacent alignment along a spiral path at different curvature radii from an axis of the spiral path. Longitudinal sidewalls of the elongate channels are fluidly joined together to allow for transfer of fluid between them. The apparatus also comprises an inlet for directing a particulate suspension into the conduit and outlets that direct fluid from the particulate suspension out from different discharge positions. At least first and second of the elongate channels are approximately circular in cross section and comprise a shared longitudinal sidewall, wherein the shared longitudinal sidewall comprises opposed uppermost and lowermost sidewall sections that are laterally offset from one another relative to the axis of the spiral path to allow for transfer of helically flowing fluid between the first and second of the elongate channels.

    摘要: An apparatus for separating a target element from a mixed material uses a barrel with one or more helical threads on its surface. The barrel is rotated as the mixed material is introduced into the barrel via a hopper. A water nozzle sprays the mixed material as the mixed material is added so that the target element moves towards the top of the barrel while other parts of the mixed materials are washed towards the bottom. In some embodiments the barrel is made of a color that contrasts the target material.

    摘要: An apparatus and process for separating drilling fluid from drill cuttings are disclosed. The separations are performed in a drying auger unit, including: an inclined housing having side walls joined by a bottom and having an inlet end and an outlet end; at least one inlet for feeding a cuttings slurry to the inlet end; a helical auger located in the housing for transporting drill cuttings from the inlet end of the housing to the outlet end of the housing, and a drive for rotating the auger, an elevated pan disposed in and extending the length of the housing and having an arcuate cross section with a radius greater than a radius of the helical auger, wherein the pan is disposed proximate at least a lower quadrant of the helical auger; the housing further comprising a liquid recovery zone adjacent to the pan for transporting drilling fluids, separated from the drill cuttings during transport along the pan by the helical auger, to a liquid collection zone disposed adjacent to the inlet; an outlet for recovering drilling fluids from the liquid collection zone; and at least one fluid inlet nozzle for injecting a fluid into the liquid recovery zone to facilitate transport of any solids in the liquid recovery zone to the liquid collection zone; and at least one outlet for recovering drill cuttings having a reduced content of drilling fluids.

One or more outlet openings in a variety of geometric shapes to provide the desired outlet stream of wash liquid.

    摘要: A method and apparatus (10) for separating a mixture of materials having different sizes and densities is described. The apparatus includes a trough (12), a dispersing and conveying screw (40) and fluid distribution manifolds (26 and 28). The screw has a dispersing portion (50) with paddles (52) which disperse the mixture and a conveying portion (46) with flights (48) which move the first and second materials (152 and 154) up the trough. The fluid distribution manifolds supply both water and air to the trough through fluid orifices (30 and 32). A spray bar (56) is located adjacent the conveying portion of the screw. The mixture is fed into the trough over the fluid orifices and the dispersing portion of the screw. The mixture is dispersed and forms an aqueous suspension (158) with the water. The first and second materials settle out of the aqueous suspension and are conveyed up the trough. The third material (156) remains suspended in the aqueous suspension and flows over the overflow weir (20) and out the lower discharge spout (24). The second material is washed out of the first material by the spray bar and flows back down the trough to be discharged with the third material.

    摘要: In an apparatus and its method of use in which lignite is moved upwardly in an inclined trough by a screw conveyer-agitator and fractured and washed while being so moved and when washed being removed from the upper end of said trough and wherein the lower end of the trough is arranged to provide a section in which a quiescent phase of liquid is formed to allow any suspended lignite to settle therefrom while a supernatant phase containing mineral matter suspended therein is removed the improvement which consists of having a two-section conveyor screw the lower-end portion or length thereof exposed in or by said quiescent phase being structured with a smooth flight or blade which can be rotated without disturbing unduly the supernatant phase thus to avoid suspending lignite therein while the remaining length of the screw conveyor can be structured to impact and fracture the crushed lignite while it is being agitated in the presence of a washing medium.
