    摘要: Hydrogen peroxide or a hydrogen peroxide producing agent is added to a water system having copper or copper alloy such as a thermal storage water system or a closed water system whereby the concentration of hydrogen peroxide in the circulating water becomes 1 to 200 mgH.sub.2 O.sub.2 /L. Hydrogen peroxide produces oxygen and oxygen works microbes directly so as to remove the microbial fouling and thus prevent the pitting corrosion in copper or its alloy due to microbial contamination.

    摘要: Inert gas is introduced in and then discharged from the inside of a pneumatic device such as a chamber, a pipe or the like which is used for producing semiconductor devices and through which interhalogen compound gas passes. Then, gas having humidity exceeding 1% is introduced into the chamber or the like. Before the gas having humidity exceeding 1% is introduced into the chamber or the like, the interhalogen compound gas in the chamber or the like is lowered in concentration to such an extent that the inner wall of the chamber or the like is not corroded. Thereafter, when the gas having humidity exceeding 1% is introduced, the interhalogen compound (for example, ClF.sub.3 gas) is decomposed into a substance such as HF or the like of which toxicity is low and of which adsorptivity to the inner wall of the chamber or the like is also low. Thereafter, the inside of the chamber or the like is opened to atmosphere. Thus, when the method above-mentioned is used for opening, to atmosphere, the inside of a pneumatic device which is used for producing semiconductor devices and in which etching, CVD, cleaning or the like is executed using interhalogen compound gas, this prevents not only the inner wall of the pneumatic device from being corroded, but also the human body from being adversely affected.

    摘要: A method for controlled removal of carbonate blockage from interior walls of water conduit systems having substantial reduction in flow capacity. A section of the system to be cleaned is isolated and an aqueous liquid is circulated to establish baseline liquid flow rates. An acidic cleaning composition which removes the blockage but which generates carbon dioxide gas is then added under controlled conditions to a circulating aqueous cleaning solution. The fluid flow rates and pH are monitored throughout treatment. Adjustments are made if necessary to maintain a controlled amount of carbon dioxide gas liberated. The aqueous acid cleaning solution is circulated in an open loop system with continued addition of acid until the outflow rate decreases and once again equals the inflow rate. Substantial inorganic carbonate deposits are thus removed from water conduit systems while dangerous conditions due to excessive generation of carbon dioxide gas are avoided.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for the cleaning of a ventilator manifold while it is attached to a respiratory support system. A particular embodiment of the present invention relates to a cleaning device used in conjunction with the ventilator manifold to clean the interior chamber of the manifold of patient secretions that have accumulated during the use of the manifold. The cleaning device includes a dual lumen catheter which accesses one of a plurality of manifold ports by inserting the cleaning device through a flexible boot attached to one of the manifold ports. The flexible boot allows for omni-directional use of the cleaning device inside the manifold by medical personnel. The use of the flexible boot in combination with the cleaning device allows medical personnel to cleanse the interior of the manifold without concurrent loss of respiratory support to the patient.

    摘要: An apparatus for removing an obstruction within a pressurized fluid service pipeline which includes a flexible rod; a module for connecting to the service pipeline in which the module defines a channel and a first opening in which the first opening communicates with and between the service pipeline and the channel and permits the channel to receive the pressurized fluid from the pipeline in which the module defines a second opening which communicates with and between the channel and an outside of the module; and a flexible seal in which the seal defines an opening and in which the seal is positioned to abut the module and align the opening of the seal with the second opening for receiving the insertion of the flexible rod through the opening of the seal to engage the obstruction in the pipeline, in which at least a portion of the flexible seal engages the flexible rod inhibiting the pressurized fluid in the channel from moving along the flexible rod to the outside of the module, and in which at least a portion of the flexible seal is flexed against the flexible rod further inhibiting the pressurized fluid from passing from the channel along the flexible rod to the outside of the module. A method is also employed to remove obstructions within a pressurized fluid service pipeline.
