    摘要: A method for manufacturing a bevel gear member, comprises the steps of providing a bevel gear blank having a gearhead, forming gear teeth on the gearhead of the bevel gear blank by simultaneously cutting gear tooth top land, gear tooth side profile and a bottom land to form an unfinished bevel gear member using a face hobbing process, and machining at least one selected surface of the unfinished bevel gear member using the top lands of said gear teeth as a datum for centering the unfinished bevel gear member, thus forming a finished product. The method is applicable for manufacturing the bevel gear member both with shaft axially extending from the gearhead and without the shaft. The bevel gear members manufactured with this method exhibit reduced runout and require simpler, less expensive tooling.

    摘要: Honing tools and methods of making such tools utilize a compact bundle of abrasive containing plastic monofilaments projection a relatively short distance from a holder with the compacted tips forming the working face of the tool. The bundle may be secured to the holder by a thin layer of adhesive or by a clinched or swaged girdling lip or rim on the holder which embraces the bundle. In addition, the bundle is further infused with an elastomer, preferably foamed. The bundle is enclosed in a mold which may be part of the clinching process and an elastomer is injected into the mold to infuse and encapsulate the bundle. The encapsulation fills the interstices of the bundle and form an integument around the bundle in effect making the tip action tool into a solid yet elastic block. This enables the abrasive monofilaments to have a higher abrasive loading since they are additionally supported by the matrix, and the tool to be applied at higher pressures. The matrix may be injected through the working face, the bottom of the holder or through mechanical anchor holes in the sides of the holder.

    摘要: The present invention relates to supported polycrystalline diamond compact cutters (PDC cutters) made under high temperature, high pressure (HT/HP) processing conditions, and more particularly to supported PDC cutters having non-planar cutting surfaces. More specifically, the present invention is for an oriented PDC cutter wherein chips and debris are funneled away from the cutting edge by a raised top surface of the polycrystalline diamond layer (PCD layer). The redirection of the debris is achieved by the creation of high and low regions on the PCD layer, of which there can be a variety of different surface geometry's. Thus, an object of the present invention is to provide a PDC cutter with improved performance through channeling debris away from its cutting edge.

A method of assembling an abrasive tool includes bonding the upper surface of the base and the lower surface of the perforated sheet by brazing the surfaces together and bonding a layer of abrasive grains to the upper surface of the perforated sheet.

    摘要: A cutter blade for use with a face hob type cutter for producing the teeth of spiral bevel and hypoid gear members by a continuous index, face hobbing process comprises a cutter blade shank having a cutting member provided at one end thereof. The cutting member includes a tooth cutting edge having a given axial pressure angle, and a relief edge adjacent the tooth cutting edge having an axial pressure angle greater than the axial pressure angle of the tooth cutting edge. The relief edge of the cutting member simultaneously forms a relief on the tip of the tooth of the gear member as the tooth is cut by the tooth cutting edge of the cutting member.
