摘要: A fiber reinforced composite component may include interleaved textile layers and ceramic particle layers coated with matrix material. The fiber reinforced composite component may be fabricated by forming a fibrous preform and densifying the fibrous preform. The fibrous preform may be fabricated by forming a first ceramic particle layer over a first textile layer, disposing a second textile layer over the first ceramic particle layer, forming a second ceramic particle layer over the second textile layer, and disposing a third textile layer over the second ceramic particle layer.

摘要: An apparatus for securing first and second skins to a core in a composite rotor blade includes an elongated member configured to be installed through a passage in the core of the composite rotor blade. The elongated member has a first end configured to be attached to an outer surface of the first skin and a second end configured to be attached to an outer surface of the second skin. The apparatus also includes a first patch configured to adhere the first end to the outer surface of the first skin, and a second patch configured to adhere the second end to the outer surface of the second skin such the elongated member extends from the outer surfaces of the first and second skins through the passage in the core.

摘要: A method for producing a reinforcing bar by pultrusion, the method comprising the steps of: a) providing a source of fibres; b) assembling the fibres into a bundle; c) impregnating the bundle with a thermosetting resin; d) eliminating excess resin from the bundle; e) compressing the bundle in a centripetal manner; f) exposing the bundle to a radiant energy source; g) spraying particles onto a surface of the bundle; and h) exposing the bundle to radiation in order to initiate, on the surface of same, the polymerisation of the resin. The present invention also concerns a system provided with corresponding devices in order to be able to implement the method. The present invention also concerns a reinforcing bar obtained with the described method and/or system.

摘要: A method of forming a substrate in a thermal compression bonding process that permit substantially greater amounts of fillers than previously accomplished. The method employs a dispersion of a thermoplastic binder and a filler. The dispersion is then thermally compression bonded to form a substrate. Lightweight fillers are one example of fillers that are ideally suited for the thermal compression bonding through the use of a dispersion. Such lightweight fillers enable the formation of a substrate with a very low and desirable specific gravity.

摘要: A manufacturing process, which includes: (i) preparing a preform; (ii) laying the preform within a mold; (iii) heating the mold to a predetermined temperature; and (iv) injecting a modified resin system, wherein the modified resin system is formulated to have a viscosity below a threshold viscosity at a specific temperature and a high level of toughness. In one embodiment, the modified resin system contains a combination of epoxies, a curing agent, core-shell rubber particles, a thermoplastic material in an amount of less than 7% by weight, wherein in a cured condition, the thermoplastic material is separated into aggregate domains from the base resin, each aggregate domain having an island-like morphology.

摘要: A thermoset composite material that my used in the fabrication of structural components including railroad ties comprise a substantially homogeneous blend of an amount of vulcanized rubber particles including a predetermined ratio of different particles sizes, and a thermoset elastomeric binding agent added to the vulcanized rubber particles. The blend may comprise about 30% to about 97% by weight of the vulcanized rubber particles, and the blend is subjected to compression molding at a predetermined temperature and pressure for a resident time period forming the composite material. The ratio of different rubber particle sizes is selected so that the composite material has a desired density or is within a range of desired densities.
