    摘要： A pagewidth inkjet printer is described which includes printhead (11) with a plurality of print nozzles (30) for ejecting ink drops towards a print medium. A space is defined between the nozzles and a nozzle guard (43) with a series of apertures (44) aligned with the nozzles. During printing operation, positive air pressure is supplied to this space, the air exiting the space through the apertures, preventing blockage by paper dust. When not printing, the air supply is closed off by air valve member (66) and a capping member (80) on a rotary platen (14) contracts the printhead to maintain a closed atmosphere at the surface of the nozzles, reducing drying of ink on the nozzles.

    摘要： Disclosed are the following: a wide format thermal printer for printing a multicolor graphic product on a printing sheet; a vacuum workbed for supporting a sheet material for performing work operations, such as cutting, printing or plotting, thereon; a replaceable donor sheet assembly, which includes a memory, for use with a thermal printer; methods and apparatus for improved thermal printing, including methods and apparatus for conserving donor sheet and reducing the amount of time required to print a multicolor graphic product; a thermal printhead including a memory; and methods and apparatus for the alignment of a sheet material for printing or performing other work operations on the sheet material. The wide format thermal printer can include provision for the automatic loading of cassettes of donor sheet from a cassette storage rack. The vacuum workbed can include provision for determining the size of the sheet material supported by the workbed, and for controlling the suction applied to the apertures in a worksurface of the workbed. Also disclosed are methods and apparatus for controlling the tension of the donor sheet during printing with a wide format thermal printer.

    摘要： Printing stock for use in making a sign that includes a face sheet and a backing sheet. The sign is formed, for example, by overlapping a plurality of sheets of the printing stock, with the sheets arranged in a pattern to form a desired image of the sign. In a number of embodiments, the sheets of printing stock may be received through and printed on by a small-office, home-office (SOHO) printer. In other embodiments, the sheets of printing stock are of standard size for use with SOHO printers, i.e., A4, 8½×11 inches, and legal size. The face sheet includes a printing surface for receiving ink and an adhesive surface for receiving the backing sheet. The face includes a face cut forming a margin and a face sub-sheet such that at least a portion of the margin is separable from the face sub-sheet. The backing sheet may include a backing cut forming a border and a backing sub-sheet such that at least a portion of the border is separable from the backing sub-sheet so that at least a portion of the adhesive surface of the face sheet is exposable. The face may include a plurality of registration marks for enabling the face sub-sheet from one sheet of printing stock that is separated from at least a portion of the margin thereof to be positioned with respect to the face sub-sheet from another sheet of printing stock.

    摘要： A device for continuously supplying ink under constant pressure comprising an ink storage tank and an ink feeding pipe connecting an ink chamber with a print head. The ink storage tank includes a container having a relatively large ink chamber which has a gas passage connected with the atmosphere. Inside the ink storage tank is a first chamber and a second chamber. A gas inlet port connected with the atmosphere is provided inside the first chamber. At the lower part of the partition between the two chambers, there is provided a gas-liquid exchange entryway that allows gas in the first chamber to enter into the second chamber and allows ink in the second chamber to flow into the first chamber. Utilizing an equilibrium principle of gas pressure, constant pressure processes can be designed and manufactured.

A method of thermal transfer printing using an ink ribbon having radiation-curable components is also provided, as well as a thermal transfer printer which utilizes these ribbons. The radiation curable components of the ink can be thermally dried and are cured after printing of an image on a receiving article. A liquid light guide is used to transmit actinic energy from a source to the printed image.
