    摘要: This invention relates to pneumatic tires and more particularly to a so-called safety tire comprising a carcass having a tube accommodated therein and spaced from the carcass to form inner and outer air chambers. A loose, circumferentially extending, puncture-resistant band is positioned substantially in the mid-circumferential plane of the tire between the underside of the tire tread and the tube. A further feature of the invention is the provision of means which produces an audible signal should the outer chamber become deflated. Another feature of the invention is the provision of means which, in use, limit radial and/or axial expansion of the tube should the outer chamber become deflated. A final feature is the provision of means which inhibit or prevent removal of the bead portions of the tire. from their respective seats upon deflation of the tire.

    摘要: A vehicle tire casing and inner inflated tubular member of material comprising lead (or optionally other highly malleable metal having high ductility in the range of that of lead and copper, and substantially pure aluminum and tin). Lead, which may be flexed many thousands of times without fracture, is resistant to puncture and may be welded by simple heating without flux, is preferred; when copper, aluminum or tin is used the tubular member is sheathed in and flexibly bonded to a thin-rubber envelope. The invention comprehends a doughnut-shaped lead inner tube; but optionally the tubular member comprises annularly arranged tubular elements, each having a middle portion of greatest inflated bulge, from which portions curvingly slope to wider constrictions at ends of the elements. These constrictions may be: flattened, hermetically bonded plies of the tubularmember material; or only substantially flat, having lines of seam or spot welding, allowing passage of gas between the welds. The invention includes a wheel, having laterally projecting flanges, inward of which casing flanges are held.

    摘要: An inner tube assembly for a pneumatic tire is disclosed. The assembly includes a pair of inner tube systems, one of which surrounds the other and intercommunicates therewith via a valve unit that is adapted to allow a pneumatic fluid to flow unidirectionally from the inner one of such tube systems to the outer one of said tube systems and effect an equilibrium of pressure. The valve unit, however, is adapted to close when the outer one of such tube systems is punctured and undergoes a pressure drop relative to the inner one of such tube systems, thereby to pneumatically isolate the interiors of such tube systems from one another.

    摘要: A wheel having an inflatable tire and designed to be used on automobiles, airplanes, trucks, and the like. The tire has an outer wall provided with an outer tread surface and surrounding a predetermined axis, this outer wall having a pair of opposed side edge regions from which a pair of side walls extend integrally from the outer wall inwardly toward the axis and terminate in inner peripheral edges which surround the axis. An intermediate wall is integral with the outer wall and is situated between and spaced from the side walls, also extending inwardly toward the axis so as to define with the outer walls a pair of air chambers which are separated from each other by the intermediate wall. The wheel includes a suitable mounting structure on which the tire is mounted in such a way that fluid-tight seals are provided at the inner peripheral edges of the side and intermediate walls. In this way if the tire should become punctured or lose air pressure for any reason at one of its chambers it will still be capable of providing fully operative service as a result of the air pressure in the other of its chambers.

    摘要: A pneumatic insert for a pneumatic tire comprises a generally toroidal shaped hollow member having a pair of annular insert beads with sidewalls extending therefrom joined to an insert crown portion. An annular flap portion is joined to the outer surface of each insert sidewall at the bead area and extends beyond each bead a predetermined amount.The pneumatic insert is disposed in a standard tire and mounted on standard rim. The insert flaps are tucked between the respective insert beads and the bead support surface of the rim to provide a leak-tight seal. When the insert is inflated the insert beads push the respective tire beads against the rim flange. In one embodiment the tire is inflated through an air passage member disposed between the tire and insert beads. In another embodiment the tire is inflated directly through the tire sidewall with a hypodermic needle. The insert inflation chamber and the tire inflation chamber do not communicate and can be inflated to different pressure levels.Other embodiments of the pneumatic insert include fabric reinforcements and/or protective caps.
