摘要: A suspension adjustment device for adjusting both camber and caster of a wheel is provided. A suspension control arm is mounted between a pair of vehicle frame support members using a single fastener. Cams are disposed on either end of the fastener. The cams rotate in grooves defined in the vehicle frame support members and cause the fastener to move inboard or outboard in slots defined in the frame support members in order to adjust wheel camber. Shims are disposed about the fastener on either side of the control arm between the control arm and the frame support members. Shims are removed from one side and added to the other side to move the control arm in the fore-aft direction and adjust wheel caster Alternatively, the fore-aft position of the control arm may be adjusted by rotating a threaded bushing disposed about the fastener and extending through the control arm.

摘要: An adjustable mounting assembly for a steerable wheel assembly. A cam member is rotatably disposed within a recess formed in the lower arm of a yoke assembly. An eccentric cylinder of the cam member extends within a vertically oriented slot formed in a ball joint forging which is in turn adjustable secured to the lower arm of the yoke. By simply rotating the cam member, the eccentric cylinder engages the slot and moves the ball joint forging in a horizontal direction to adjust the caster of the wheel assembly. The vertical slot in the ball joint forging prevents vertical movement to facilitate adjustment of the caster without affecting a camber setting, the distance between the upper and lower ball joints, or ball joint pre-loading. Horizontal slots are formed in the lower arm to align with boltholes formed in the ball joint forging to allow the forging to be bolted to the lower arm over a range of horizontal positions. A method of adjusting the camber of the wheel assembly is also disclosed.

The said means comprises an intermediate support (4) linking the wheel carrier to the body, the intermediate support being, on the one hand, articulated with respect to the body along a substantially vertical first axis (ASI) and, on the other hand, articulated to the wheel carrier along a second axis (R1R2), so that a rotation of the intermediate support about the first axis permits the degree of camber freedom.

摘要: An adjustable mounting assembly for a steerable wheel assembly. A pin member is horizontally movably disposed within a slot formed in the lower arm of a yoke assembly. A ball joint forging is adjustably secured to the lower arm. The pin member extends between the lower arm and a ball joint forging to facilitate selective adjustment therebetween. A pair of set screws are secured to the lower arm to engage opposite sides of the pin member to selectively move the pin member within the slot. By simply rotating the set screws, the pin member is horizontally adjusted to selectively move the ball joint forging in a horizontal direction to adjust the caster of the wheel assembly. Horizontal slots are formed in the lower arm to align with boltholes formed in the ball joint forging to allow the forging to be bolted to the lower arm over a range of horizontal positions.

摘要: A pneumatic device for adjusting wheel camber includes an air bladder operatively connected with an air supply valve and an air release button via an air hose. The device facilitates adjustment of vehicle wheel camber and is adapted to be connected with a compressed air supply. The air supply valve and air release button control the delivery and release of compressed air into and from the air bladder. The air bladder is placed between the strut and the tire-wheel assembly of a vehicle, and the camber adjustment bolts are loosened. The air bladder is then selectively inflated, thus compressively moving the tire-wheel assembly in relation to the strut, until the correct camber setting is achieved. The camber adjustment bolts are then tightened, the compressed air contained in the air bladder is released therefrom, and the device is removed from the vehicle.

The suspension system includes a main support bracket with a plurality of holes formed therein and a plurality of links attached thereto. Each of the plurality of links has a plurality of holes formed therein for engaging a respective one of the plurality of holes formed in the main support bracket. The particular placement and combination of the holes in the main support bracket and each link, the size of each hole and slot, the shape of each link, the shape of the main support bracket, and the engagement of the links to the main support bracket permit the four-link suspension system to have hundreds of possible instant center (I/C) choices and locations. The assortment of configurations available allow the user to have an ideal four-link suspension system for any particular application.
