    摘要: A brake booster of the stroke-enlarging type which includes a power piston disposed in a casing for being actuated by a difference in pressure on opposite sides thereof. The brake booster includes a transmission device in the form of a ball and ball retainer which are biased by a spring while the ball is retained between a surface of the power piston and a control piston. The ball and ball retainer are limited in movement by a stopper coupled to the power piston. The ball and ball retainer forming the transmission device are advanced in response to the spring bias by the power piston and are operated such that when a brake clearance has been extinguished and a reactionary force from the output member becomes larger than the preload of the spring, the reactionary force blocks the advance of the ball and ball retainer so that the reaction force is partly transmitted to the control piston with a resultant reduction of the reactionary force transmitted to the power piston.

    摘要: A vehicle brake booster and master cylinder assembly has a vacuum suspended booster section which is controlled by movement of the vehicle brake pedal. A hydraulic booster section is in series with the vacuum suspended booster section, and a master cylinder unit is in series with the hydraulic booster section. The assembly is so interconnected that the master cylinder can be operated manually when there is no or insufficient power pressure to operate either booster section. It may also be operated by actuating the vacuum suspended booster section, and, when no hydraulic pressure is available to the hydraulic booster section, this operation may be followed by manual actuation. It may be operated by initially actuating the hydraulic booster section when there is no vacuum available for initially operating the vacuum suspended booster section, followed by manual actuation as needed. In one embodiment the assembly utilizes a single hydraulic fluid for the hydraulic booster section and for the master cylinder and brake apply circuitry. In another embodiment the hydraulic booster section is operated by a separate fluid circuit which is fluidly independent of the master cylinder and brake apply pressure circuitry.

    摘要: A negative pressure type booster includes a power piston, a slide valve, and a holding mechanism, among others, and assists a driver during emergency braking. The holding mechanism is adapted to hold the slide valve at a predetermined frontward position, and includes a latch member that is mounted to the power piston in such a manner as to be linearly movable in a radial direction, and a garter spring for biasing the latch member radially inward. The latch member has a hook that can be engaged with and disengaged from a hook provided on the slide valve. When a plunger moves frontward relative to the power piston by a quantity greater than a predetermined value, a push slope provided on the plunger pushes a passive slope provided on the latch member radially outward, whereby the hook of the latch member is disengaged from the hook of the slide valve.

    摘要: A vehicle brake booster and master cylinder assembly has a vacuum suspended booster section which is controlled by movement of the vehicle brake pedal. A hydraulic booster section is in series with the vacuum suspended booster section, and a master cylinder unit is in series with the hydraulic booster section. The assembly is so arranged that in normal operation the vehicle operator obtains boosted brake actuating pressures by operation of the vacuum suspended booster which acts through the hydraulic booster mechanism without operating the hydraulic booster. When greater brake actuating pressures are required, as indicated by increased brake pedal force exerted by the operator, the vacuum booster reaches its limit or runout condition and the hydraulic booster is operated so as to continue the increase in master cylinder output pressure. If still further master cylinder output pressure is required when the hydraulic booster has reached its runout condition, the master cylinder is actuated manually through mechanical force transmitting elements which are parts of the booster sections. In one embodiment the assembly utilizes a single hydraulic fluid for the hydraulic booster section and for the master cylinder and brake apply circuitry. In another embodiment the hydraulic booster section is operated by a separate fluid circuit which is fluidly independent of the master cylinder and brake apply pressure circuitry.
