    摘要: Ozone is dispersed in river water to be purified and used in a high pressure boiler. The ozone selectively degrades large organic molecules, dissolved in the water, which ordinarily will irreversibly foul the strongly basic anion attracting resin used to adsorb silicious contaminants from the water. The degraded molecules are reduced in resin-fouling capability and are removed from the resin during regeneration.

    摘要: A method for removing a weak acid from an aqueous solution containing said acid is disclosed. The method comprises contacting said aqueous solution with an anion exchanger containing both strongly basic and weakly basic groups, said exchanger having a matrix comprising a copolymer of styrene and not more than about 20%, by weight, of a cross-linking agent, from about 3% to about 90% of the total basic groups being strongly basic groups of the quaternary ammonium type having the structure --CH.sub.2 N.sup.+ R.sub.1 R.sub.2 R.sub.3, wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 are independently selected from the group consisting of --CH.sub.3, --C.sub.2 H.sub.5, and --C.sub.2 H.sub.4 OH, and the balance of the basic groups being weakly basic groups of the tertiary amine type.

    摘要: This invention relates to a process for the removal of dissolved species from aqueous solutions, which comprises contacting said aqueous solution with an emulsion, said emulsion comprising an exterior phase which is characterized as being immiscible with said aqueous solution and yet permeable to said dissolved species, and an interior phase which contains a reactant capable of converting said dissolved species to a non-permeable form. The dissolved species permeate the exterior phase, into the interior phase where they are converted into nonpermeable forms and thus retained in the interior phase of said emulsion. The aqueous solution, depleted in said dissolved species, is separated from said emulsion and the emulsion cycled for reuse. In one preferred embodiment said dissolved species are ions, and an ion exchange compound is incorporated in the exterior phase of the emulsion, to promote the permeation of said ions through the exterior phase.
