摘要: A method of manufacturing a mineral fibre thermal insulation product comprises the sequential steps of:
Forming mineral fibres from a molten mineral mixture;
Spraying a substantially formaldehyde free binder solution on to the mineral fibres, the binder solution comprising: a reducing sugar, an acid precursor derivable from an inorganic salt and a source of nitrogen;
Collecting the mineral fibres to which the binder solution has been applied to form a batt of mineral fibres; and
Curing the batt comprising the mineral fibres and the binder which is in contact with the mineral fibres by passing the batt through a curing oven so as to provide a batt of mineral fibres held together by a substantially water insoluble cured binder.-

摘要: An optical fiber ribbon comprises a plurality of optical fibers arranged in parallel and a connecting resin layer containing a ribbon resin for coating and connecting the plurality of optical fibers, wherein each of the plurality of optical fibers has an outer diameter of 220 µm or less; each of the plurality of optical fibers includes a glass fiber, a primary resin layer, and a colored secondary resin layer; the colored secondary resin layer contains a cured product of a resin composition containing 2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyldiphenylphosphine oxide; and a content of phosphorus in the colored secondary resin layer is 0.03 mass% or more and 0.30 mass% or less, and an amount of a phosphorus-tin complex at the surface of the colored secondary resin layer is 300 ppm or more and 7000 ppm or less.

摘要: An elongate fiber artificial muscle includes or consists of an elongate carbon or glass fiber and at least a partial coating of a polymer, and preferably a full shell coating to form a core-shell arrangement, that is volumetrically responsive to thermal changes or to moisture changes. Additional elongate fiber artificial muscles of the invention include a plurality of elongate carbon or glass fibers that are infiltrated between the fibers with a polymer that is volumetrically responsive to thermal changes or to moisture changes. In a fabrication method, the rheology (flow characteristic) of a polymer precursor is adjusted with solvent so it is less viscous. A fiber or plurality of fibers (pre-twisted or untwisted), such as a tow is dipped in the polymer precursor. The fiber or fibers is then pulled out of the polymer precursor and hung to allow polymer to distribute and then cured and can be twisted to coil prior to curing. A model is provided to fabricate elongate fiber artificial muscle with specific characteristics based upon a thermal or moisture expansion coefficient of the polymer, its elongation capability percentage before flaking or breaking, and its elastic modulus.

摘要: Methods of making prepregs are described. The methods include the steps of forming a fiber-containing substrate, and contacting the fiber-containing substrate with a resin mixture. The resin mixture may include polymer particles mixed in a liquid medium, and the polymer particles may be coated on the fiber-containing substrate to form a coated substrate. The liquid medium may be removed from the coated substrate to form the prepreg. The prepregs may be used to make fiber-reinforced articles.

摘要: The method includes the steps of functionalizing a polyaryletherketone (PAEK) polymer, and blending the PAEK polymer with water to form a sizing composition. The method may further include the step of applying the sizing composition to a fiber. The method may further include the step of heating the fibers, coated with sizing composition, for example to between 300C-400C. In some methods, the functionalized PAEK polymer comprises functionalized polyetherketoneketone (PEKK). In yet other methods, the functionalized PAEK polymer comprises sulfonated PEKK (sPEKK).
