The glazes according to this invention are prepared to analyze more than about 0.53 to about 1.5 weight percent molybdenum trioxide with the source of the molybdenum trioxide either in the frit or as a mill addition being alkaline earth molybdenate, for example, calcium molybdenate (CaMoO.sub.4).

    摘要: Novel ceramic whiteware bodies, glazes and compositions for the bodies and energy efficient processs for the fabrication of the bodies are described.The whiteware bodies contain a matrix of a low melting alkali phosphate frit having quartz particles dispersed therein as a filler material. Typically, a composition comprising from about 50% by weight to about 80% by weight of particulate quartz filler and from about 20% by weight to about 50% by weight of an alkali phosphate frit is heated to within a temperature range from about the softening temperature of the alkali phosphate frit to about 600.degree. C. Thereafter, the body is fabricated either by sintering the composition within the indicated temperature range for a period of time from about 0.1 hours to about 10 hours or by hot forging the composition within the indicated temperature range.The novel glaze of the invention comprises an alkali phosphate frit and optionally modifying materials such as opacifiers, pigments and the like. The glazed ceramic whiteware bodies described herein may be used in low temperature applications.

    摘要: Disclosed are compositions and methods for glazing low-expansion ceramic ware with an opaque, non-porous, acid-resistant, lowexpansion, semi-crystalline glass-ceramic glaze which can be subjected to relatively high firing temperatures (relatively high with respect to firing temperatures for low-expansion glazes) without the formation of ''''wash boarding'''' or other surface defects associated with overfiring. The compositions are lithium aluminosilicate frits containing sufficient ZrO2 so that zirconia is present as a crystalline phase in the fired glaze. The invention shows particular advantage for making glazes of adjustable and low expansion for thermal shock-resistant ceramic whiteware, for example, dinnerware, cookware and ceramic tile.

    摘要: A devitrification-resistant glaze for high-silica glasses, particularly effective in inhibiting surface devitrification induced by contact with food-ash at elevated temperatures, formed from a coating consisting essentially, in weight percent, of about 25-85 percent Al2O3 and 15-75 percent ZrO2, and optionally containing up to about 10 percent Ta2O5. The coating is preferably applied in the form of an aqueous slurry which is dried and fired to produce a vitreous glaze.
