摘要： The reactor is traversed by a central tube with an essentially radial circulation of the gases or other fluids. Said cylindrical part of the solids bed is surmounted by a substantially hemispherical reaction zone permeable to said gases or other fluids. The hemispherical part of the reactive zone is comprised between two substantially hemispherical caps one of which surmounts the central tube and the other bounds the upper periphery of this zone with the pressure drop undergone by the gases or other fluids passing through the hemispherical zone being greater than that undergone by the gases or other fluids passing through the cylindrical zone and therefore the perforations of the hemispherical part of the central tube are calculated to compensate for this difference and equalize the flow of gases or other fluids in the whole of the solids mass.

The dehydration process is carried out at temperatures of from about 500.degree. to about 650.degree. C. using an alumina-containing catalyst. 摘要： Alkylatable aromatic hydrocarbons are alkylated with olefins and alkylhalides under anhydrous alkylating conditions in the presence of certain metallic cation exchanged synthetic hectorite-type catalysts in which the metallic cation has a Pauling electronegativity greater than 1.0 and in which the central octahedral layer contains one or more divalent metals which have an ionic radius not greater than 0.75 A. In a specific embodiment, 1-dodecene is reacted with benzene by contacting the dodecene and benzene under anhydrous alkylating conditions in the liquid phase at the boiling point of the mixture with a catalyst comprising a metallic cation such as Al.sup.3+, In.sup.3+, and Cr.sup.3+ exchanged onto the surface of a synthetic nickeliferous hectorite.

摘要： Alkylaromatic hydrocarbons including ethylbenzene are dehydrogenated in a vapor phase reactant stream, preferably at subatmospheric conditions. The resultant reaction zone effluent is partially condensed and then separated in a subatmospheric product settler. Hydrocarbons from the product settler are fractionated to yield a styrene bottoms stream, an overhead liquid recycled to the reaction zone and an overhead vapor. This vapor is admixed with vapors from the product settler, compressed to a superatmospheric pressure, and partially condensed to form a liquid which is fractionated to remove the net light aromatic hydrocarbons produced in the process.

摘要： A pressure control system and method for utilization in a process for effecting the alkylation of an aromatic hydrocarbon with a normally gaseous olefinic feed stream. The system is intended to control the pressure within a fractional distillation column which initially recovers the alkylaromatic product from unreacted aromatic hydrocarbons and a minor quantity of normally gaseous paraffinic contaminants contained in the olefinic feed stream. The system is especially advantageous in the boron trifluoride-catalyzed alkylation of benzene with ethylene, the latter containing minor quantities of ethane which must necessarily be vented, or removed from the system.
