    Abstract: In a two-step precondensate process for preparing polyamides diamines are reacted with dicarboxylic acid dihalides in a polar, non-basic, inert organic liquid medium under conditions such that a condensation product having a low degree of polymerization is formed. The resulting condensation then is contacted with an aqueous solution of a water-soluble acid acceptor by continuously feeding the components into a reactor system having a total residence time from about 2 seconds to about 2 minutes, and having a Peclet number greater than about 3.5 to form a polyamide product having a high degree of polymerization.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing polyamide 6 (PA 6) by hydrolytic polymerization of null-caprolactam. In a first reaction step, a first intermediate mixture is formed by ring opening null-caprolactam in the presence of water, under conditions of increased pressure and temperature. The first intermediate mixture is then dehydrated to form a dehydrated intermediate having a water content of less than 0.5 wt. %. The dehydrated intermediate is subsequently polymerized to. produce a polyamide 6 product having a low dimer content (e.g., of less than 0.3 wt. %). The invention also relates to an apparatus in which the process may be performed. The apparatus includes, in sequence, a pressure reactor (23) having heat exchange surfaces (36), a dehydration device (24) that is in fluid communication with the pressure reactor (23), and a main reactor (25) that is in fluid communication with the dehydration device (24).

    Abstract: The polyamide resin of the present invention is produced by the polycondensation of a dicarboxylic acid component and a diamine component containing xylylenediamine and bisaminomethylcyclohexane in a total amount of 70 mol % or higher. The polyamide resin contains impurities having a boiling point of from 150 to 300null C. at ordinary pressure and a solubility parameter of from 8 to 16 in a total amount of 0.3% by weight or lower based on the weight of the polyamide resin.
