The present invention provides a moisture-curing one-pack urethane adhesive composition which has a good adhesive property to a painted steel. The moisture-curing one-pack urethane adhesive composition according to the present invention contains an isocyanate group-terminated urethane prepolymer as a main component, and also contains (1) a silane coupling agent as an adhesive promoter, and (2) (a) 2,2′-dimorpholinodiethyl ether and/or di(2,6-dimethylmorpholinoethyl)ether, and (b)dibutyltin diacetylacetonate, as curing catalysts. The moisture-curing one-pack urethane adhesive composition according to the present invention is particularly suitable for bonding automotive window glasses to automotive bodies.

The present invention provides a reactive catalyst composition for making a water blown flexible polyurethane foam. The catalyst composition comprises a tertiary amino alkyl urea and/or bis(tertiary amino alkyl) urea in combination with either a gelling catalyst or blowing catalyst. The use of such catalyst composition improves the physical properties of the polyurethane foam.

Low-odor, storage-stable monomer-containing polyisocyanurate is prepared from isophorone diisocyanate by conducting a partial trimerization for 3 minutes to 3 hours in the presence of 0.05-2% by weight of a catalyst, based on the weight of the diisocyanate, the catalyst having the formula [R—NX3]m⊕mY⊖ wherein Y⊖ is a carboxylic acid anion of 4-8 carbons, R is a &bgr;-hydroxyalkyl group of 2-6 carbons, X is an alkylene group of 2-3 carbons and m is a number from 1.0 to 2.0. The three radicals X form a ring with the quaternary nitrogen by way of a common nitrogen atom, which may be partly &bgr;-hydroxyalkylated, said ring optionally having an OH group positioned &agr;, &bgr; or &ggr; to the nitrogen. The reaction proceeds at a temperature of 0-160° C.

The present invention is directed to a process for the production of polyisocyanates containing isocyanurate groups by trimerizing a portion of the isocyanate groups of hexamethylene diisocyanate using N,N,N-trialkyl-N-benzyl-quaternary ammonium hydroxides as the trimerization catalyst, terminating the trimerization reaction at the desired degree of trimerization by adding a catalyst poison and/or by thermally deactivating the catalyst and removing unreacted hexamethylene diisocyanate to a residual content of at most 0.2% by weight, characterized in that a) the hexamethylene diisocyanate used as starting material is freed from carbon dioxide to a residual content of less than 20 ppm (weight) and b) the catalyst is used in a quantity of less than about 0.03% by weight, based on the weight of the hexamethylene diisocyanate used. The present invention is also directed to the polyisocyanates containing isocyanurate groups obtained by this process and to their use, optionally blocked by blocking agents for isocyanate groups, as the isocyanate component for the production of polyisocyanate polyaddition products.

A process for the preparation of foamed plastics materials based on polyisocyanate polyaddition products by the reaction of isocyanates with isocyanate-reactive compounds in the presence of catalysts and, optionally, auxiliaries and/or additives, wherein i) isocyanates having isocyanurate and/or biuret structures are used, the isocyanate-reactive compounds used are ii) at least one diol and/or polyol having a molecular weight of from 400 to 8000 and containing at least 50% of primary hydroxyl groups based on all of the hydroxyl groups present in the compound, iii) at least one compound having at least one primary amine group, and diols and/or triols having molecular weights of less than 400 are optionally used as chain-extending and/or crosslinking agents, the reaction being carried out in the presence of iv) at least one tertiary amine acting as catalyst and/or v) at least one metal salt acting as catalyst and vi) water.
