    Abstract: Monoamide-containing polyether alcohol compounds of the formula: wherein R1, R2 and R3 are each independently selected from hydrogen, hydrocarbyl of 1 to 100 carbon atoms, substituted hydrocarbyl of 1 to 100 carbon atoms and polyoxyalkylene alcohol of 2 to 200 carbon atoms or R2 and R3 taken together form a heterocyclic group of 2 to 100 carbon atoms or a substituted heterocyclic group of 2 to 100 carbon atoms with the proviso that at least one of R1, R2 or R3 must be polyoxyalkylene alcohol have been found to decrease intake valve deposits, control octane requirement increases and reduce octane requirement when used as gasoline additives.

    Abstract: A method for controlling the deposits in the fuel vaporizer of a fuel reformer used to prepare a liquid hydrocarbon for use as a fuel in a fuel cell which comprises introducing into the fuel vaporizer a liquid hydrocarbon containing an effective deposit controlling amount of a nitrogen-containing detergent additive and a fuel composition suitable for use in a fuel cell which comprises a liquid hydrocarbon having a boiling range at atmospheric pressure falling between about 77 degrees F. (25 degrees C.) and about 437 degrees F.     Abstract: A fuel composition of improved lubricity comprises a lubricity-increasing amount of a lubricity aid dissolved in low sulfur diesel fuel and spark ignition fuels. The lubricity aid is an alkanolamide of a fatty acid, an alkanolamide of a modified fatty acid or a mixture thereof. If the lubricity aid is other than an alkanolamide of an aryl-substituted fatty acid, the composition further necessarily comprises a haze-inhibiting amount of a dehazer. The lubricity of such fuels may be enhanced without acceptably increasing the tendency of the fuel to become hazy upon contact with water.

    Abstract: Ethers of polyalkyl or polyalkenyl N-hydroxyalkyl succinimides having the formula: or a fuel soluble salt thereof; wherein R is a polyalkyl or polyalkenyl group having an average molecular weight in the range of about 450 to about 5,000; n is an integer from 2 to 5; and Z is a moiety selected from the group consisting of  wherein R1 is a hydroxy, nitro, cyano or —(CH2)x—NR3R4, wherein R3 and R4 are independently hydrogen or lower alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms and x is 0 or 1; and R2 is hydrogen, hydroxy, nitro, cyano or —(CH2)y—NR5R6, wherein R5 and R6 are independently hydrogen or lower alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms and y is 0 or 1.
