    摘要: The present invention provides a lubricant for forming a lubricating layer which is useful in preventing fly and stiction and/or corrosion at an extremely small flying height of 10 nm or less, which is prevented from migrating at a high rotational speed of 5400 rpm or more, which has high adhesion, and which is suitable for a load/unload method. A crude lubricant containing at least one perfluoropolyether is degassed and then purified. Alternatively, a liquid crude lubricant containing at least one perfluoropolyether is purified by vaporizing the crude lubricant and then liquefying the vapor of the perfluoropolyether within a distance less than the mean free path of molecules of the perfluoropolyether. A magnetic disk is prepared in such a manner that a carbonaceous protective layer is formed above a substrate and a lubricating layer is formed on the protective layer using of the lubricant. The lubricant contains the perfluoropolyether and has a molecular weight distribution of 1.3 or less.

    摘要: An oil-soluble copolymer, useful as a pour point depressant for lubricating oils, is composed of about equimolar amounts of 1-olefins and maleic anhydride, said 1-olefins being a mixture comprising from about 25 to 75, preferably 30 to 55, mole percent of straight chain C.sub.20 -C.sub.24 1-olefins and from about 25 to 75, preferably 45 to 70, mole percent of C.sub.10 -C.sub.14 1-olefins.These useful copolymers are oil-soluble, essentially free of olefinic unsaturation and have a number average molecular weight of from 1,000 to 30,000. Pour point depressant activity of said copolymers is enhanced by esterification with a C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 alcohol, e.g. 2-ethyl hexanol.The copolymers are usefully admixed with lubricants in an amount of from 0.01 to 3 wt. % based on the total weight of the admixture.
