Abstract: A cushion material for hot pressing includes a cushion part that includes a woven fabric, in which texturized yarn made of glass fiber is used for at least one of warp or weft, and a polymer material adhered to a surface of the glass fiber. When t1 denotes a thickness of the cushion material at a time of compressing the cushion material under conditions of 230° C. and 0.01 kgf/cm2 and t2 denotes a thickness of the cushion material at a time of compressing the cushion material under conditions of 230° C. and 40 kgf/cm2, after the cushion material is repeatedly compressed 100 times under conditions of releasing pressurization after performing, in a pressurized state of 40 kgf/cm2, heating at 230° C. for 60 minutes and then cooling for 15 minutes, Fn obtained from [Fn=(t1−t2)×1000/t2] is 300 or more.

Abstract: Provided are a surface-treated glass cloth capable of enhancing insulation reliability when used to prepare a prepreg, a prepreg and a printed wiring board using the surface-treated glass cloth. The surface-treated glass cloth includes a surface treatment layer on a surface, a glass constituting the glass cloth has a composition containing 52.0 to 60.0 mass % of SiO2, 15.0 to 26.0 mass % of B2O3, 9.0 to 18.0 mass % of Al2O3, 1.0 to 8.0 mass % of MgO, 1.0 to 10.0 mass % of CaO, 0 to 6.0 mass % of SrO, 0 to 6.0 mass % of TiO2, and 0.1 to 3.0 mass % in total of F2 and Cl2, based on the total amount of the glass, the glass cloth has a surface coverage of 75.0 to 100.0% and a thickness of 8 to 95 μm, and the surface treatment layer contains a silane coupling agent having a methacrylic group and contains no surfactant.

Abstract: An adhesive tape substrate production method disclosed in the present description includes the steps of decreasing the amount of a sizing agent contained in a glass cloth by heat; impregnating the glass cloth for which the amount of the sizing agent has been decreased with a dispersion of a fluorine resin; and heating the impregnated glass cloth to a temperature equal to or higher than a melting point of the fluorine resin. Thus, an adhesive tape substrate including the glass cloth impregnated with the fluorine resin is obtained. This method are more productive of adhesive tape substrates and adhesive tapes than conventional methods. In addition, adhesive tape substrates and adhesive tapes for which the occurrence of defects in appearance are reduced can be produced.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises a first plurality of optical fibers embedded in a first plurality of fabric strands, a second plurality of optical fibers embedded in a second plurality of fabric strands, and a detector. The first plurality of optical fibers are positioned adjacent to each other and oriented along a first direction and the second plurality of optical fibers are positioned adjacent to each other and oriented along a second direction orthogonal to the first direction. The first and second plurality of optical fibers are configured to receive ambient light emitted onto them. The detector detects the light received into at least some of the first and second plurality of optical fibers and creates data configured to be processed to identify an object adjacent to the apparatus. The data is based on the light received into the first plurality of optical fibers and the second plurality of optical fibers.

Abstract: A first thermal management approach involves an air flow through cooling mechanism with multiple airflow channels for dissipating heat generated in a PCA. The air flow direction through at least one of the channels is different from the air flow direction through at least another of the channels. Alternatively or additionally, the airflow inlet of at least one channel is off-axis with respect to the airflow outlet. A second thermal management approach involves the fabrication of a PCB with enhanced durability by mitigating via cracking or PTH fatigue. At least one PCB layer is composed of a base material formed from a 3D woven fiberglass fabric, and conductive material deposited onto the base material surface. A conductive PTH extends through the base material of multiple PCB layers, where the CTE of the base material along the z-axis direction substantially matches the CTE of the conductive material along the x-axis direction.
