摘要:
Sustainable paper-based packaging materials, e.g., paper-based food packaging materials, are described. The packaging materials are based on paper formed from fiber derived from waste biomass, such as hemp hurds, mixes containing hemp hurds and hemp bast fibers, bagasse, and cocoa pod husks. Also described are methods of making the packaging materials. The methods can include environmentally friendly pulping and/or bleaching processes.

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a film comprising highly refined cellulose fibers in a paper-making machine, the method comprising the steps of: a) providing an aqueous pulp suspension comprising at least 20% by dry weight of highly refined cellulose fibers having an SR (Schopper-Riegier) value in the range of 80-100 at a consistency in the range of 0.8-3 wt % and; b) deflocculating and diluting the aqueous pulp suspension to a lower consistency in the range of 0.1-1.5 wt % by injecting the aqueous pulp suspension into an aqueous stream using a high shear mixer to obtain a diluted aqueous pulp suspension; and c) feeding the diluted aqueous pulp suspension to a headbox of the paper-making machine.

A method for making a multiply fibrous structure. The method comprising the steps of: depositing a slurry of pulp fibers onto a Fourdrinier wire running at a first velocity V1; transferring the web from the Fourdrinier wire to at least a first molding member moving at a second velocity, V2, slower than the first velocity, V1. The molding member comprises a substantially continuous relatively low density network at least partially defining a plurality of relatively high density, irregularly shaped, discrete elements situated in an irregular pattern. The embryonic web is partially dried, adhered to a Yankee dryer surface, creped from Yankee dryer and reeled at a velocity, V4, that is faster than that (V3) of the Yankee dryer.

A fibrous board is formed by conventional water laid techniques such as the utilization of a Fourdrinier machine. After the board has formed and has been consolidated, it is subjected to a vacuum action to remove additional water from the wet board structure just prior to the time the wet board structure moves into an oven where final board drying is carried out.

The present invention is related to a water dispersible paper, particularly for use in packages in the construction area. The dispersibility of the paper of the present invention is achieved due to the low wet resistance and high capillary absorption and basically consists of an unbleached cellulose-based paper aiming at the reduction of ingredients conventionally used, adding only defoamers and drainage aids in the formulation thereof. The paper of the present invention consists in the elimination of the use of disintegration aids (such as surfactants), gluing agents and dry resistance agents (such as starch). There is further described a manufacturing process for dispersible paper which allows obtaining a paper having low wet tensile strength and high capillary rise without the need for the chemical agents usually known for the manufacture of this type of paper. The present invention further foresees a package containing said paper for use in construction such as in packages for, lime, sand, cellulosic or synthetic fibers or powder pigments, among others.

The invention relates to a method and a device for drying a pulp web, with dewatering of the pulp web by pressing and the pulp web being guided directly on the press belt to a first transfer area for transfer of the pulp web to a transfer clothing and transfer of the pulp web in a second transfer area to a dryer. It is characterized in that the pulp web undergoes thermal drying between the first transfer area and the second transfer area. This enables production of a pulp web with improved quality characteristics and low energy consumption at the same time.

The invention relates to a fibrous web formation device comprising an inclined wire former, an inclined wire headbox and a drainage device. The inclined wire headbox has at least one conveyor wire which transports the fibrous web in the direction of travel thereof and which has a portion that runs at an angle from the horizontal, in which portion the inclined wire headbox is arranged. The inclined wire headbox allows a fibrous suspension to be applied to the conveyor wire. In a drainage device that has a roll, a drainage wire lying against said roll, and a pressing wire pressing against said roll, the fibrous web being arranged between the drainage wire and the pressing wire in the region of the drainage device, drainage can be performed gently so that the fibrous web at least partially maintains voluminous structures.

The manufacture of sag-resistant, lightweight structural mineral panels on a foraminous support wire is accomplished by forming a dilute aqueous dispersion of mineral fiber and/or aggregate and an anionically stabilized latex binder, coupling the binder solids onto the mineral fiber materials by adding a small amount of a flocculant such as a cationic polyacrylamide, and passing the slurry onto a first flooded section of the support wire to form an open, entangled, structural mass having water in interstitial spaces of the entangled mass. Water is stripped from the mass and the mass dried without collapse of the open structure by passing heated dry air through the open entangled structure.

A cupstock for making rimmed cups, such as coffee cups, can be manufactured from recycled paper fibers while having a rim-formation index (RFI) and/or structural and flexural factors, based on certain properties of the cupstock to facilitate a quality rim. For example, the RFI can be based on the thickness, ring crush MD, bending stiffness MD, and areal density of the cupstock. The cupstock can be made from 100% recycled fibers from old corrugated cardboard (OCC) and provided with structural and flexural factors within respective ranges to ensure adequate rim formation when converted into a rimmed cup.

A system and a method for dewatering an acoustical tile basemat comprising a continuously traveling wire, a device for depositing a dilute water slurry of solids including fiber and binder on the wire, a vacuum box below the wire for separating water from the solids deposited on the wire to form a basemat, a vacuum source, and a valve for cyclically connecting the vacuum source to the vacuum box at a cyclic rate that limits vacuum exposure to a length of the basemat newly arriving at the vacuum box to less than four inches per cycle.
