The invention relates to a method and a device for utilizing the heat of flue gases from combustion apparatus while simultaneously removing condensable elements from the flue gases and reducing the corrosivity of the flue gases. The method is applicable to all types of combustion apparatus where a combustion zone generates hot flue gases that are cooled in one or more heat exchangers that transfer the utilizable heat to a liquid or a gas. The method is also suitable for apparatus with considerable load fluctuations, where the fuel supply must be adjusted to the heat load. This is achieved by separating the flue gases from the heat exchangers by cooling the flue gases by means of a particulate material (2, 13) which absorbs the condensable substances, and by circulating the particulate material between the flue gases and heat exchangers (10) that transfer heat to the hot liquid or gas.

An air conditioning system comprising a plurality of heat pipes. Each of the heat pipes includes an input coil at the input end of a chiller for the passage of input air there through and an output coil at the output end of a chiller for the passage of output air there through. Each of the heat pipes also having an inlet leg and an outlet leg coupling an associated input coil and output coil for the flow of a working fluid there through. At least one valve for controlling the flow of the coolant within each heat pipes exists. A tube and shell heat exchanger transfers heat from a chiller fluid to an intermediate portion of the heat pipes.

The heat sink (10) includes a heat conducting base member (20) having a substantially planar heat receiving surface (22) for overlaying the heat rejecting surface (14) of the electronic component (12) to receive heat therefrom, a heat conducting tower (24) extending from a side of the base member (20) opposite from the heat receiving surface (22) to receive heat therefrom, and a pair of serpentine fins (30) to transfer heat from the tower (24) to the airflow and the environment surrounding the heat sink (10).

In a cooling device, a condensation unit is constructed by stacking plural unit plates and two outer plates. The plural unit plates are superimposed in a plate-thickness direction between the outer plates, and three sheets of unit plates are also arranged in the planar direction. The radiating fins are provided such that the width of the base is substantially equal to the width of the unit plate, and are arranged in parallel on one of the outer plates in the same manner as the unit plate. According to this structure, the number of the unit plates arranged in parallel with the outer plates and the number of the radiating fins are increased or decreased, so that it is possible to easily change the size of a radiating unit in accordance with a necessary cooling capacity.
