摘要: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for in-situ testing of transducers, and more particularly to the testing of piezoelectric transducers including piezoelectric accelerometers. Circuits, measurement techniques, and interpretative algorithms to enable in-situ testing of piezoelectric accelerometers are described. Accelerometers that employ a piezoelectric material to convert mechanical strains into electronic signals are reciprocal electromechanical transducers. In such transducers the electrical output impedance of the sensor is dependent upon the electrical and mechanical parameters of the sensor. The procedure described in this disclosure includes methods of measuring the transducer electrical output impedance as a function of frequency and the extraction of the electrical and mechanical transducer parameters from the measured data. The measured values of the transducer parameters may be interpreted to provide an indication of the operational status of the transducer. In addition to allowing verification of correct transducer performance, a range of failure conditions and degradations may be inferred from the transducer parameter values.

摘要: A system and method for monitoring engine performance utilizes a monitoring micro-controller that integrates with an engine/vehicle controller to receive data indicative of the current operating conditions of the engine/vehicle. A duty cycle map is defined within the micro-controller by a plurality of sectors bounded by a specific performance curve based on two or more engine operating parameters, such as engine torque and speed. Each sector corresponds to a range of values for the specific operating parameters. During iterations of the monitoring routine, current data indicative of the specific engine operating parameters is sensed and compared with the range of values for each duty cycle sector. A duty cycle parameter, such as elapsed time or fuel consumption, is maintained for each sector. When the current engine operating conditions fall within a particular target sector, its corresponding duty cycle parameter is updated. This process is continued over several iterations to define a duty cycle map over a predetermined number of engine operating hours. In one embodiment, a long term map is accumulated between engine rebuilds, for example. In another embodiment, the long term duty cycle map is augmented by sequentially accessed short term maps, each storing duty cycle information for much shorter engine hours. The duty cycle maps can be used to evaluate engine maintenance requirements or suggest modifications to engine control routines and fueling strategies.

摘要: A sensor comprises a semiconductor pellet (10) including a working portion (11) adapted to undergo action of a force, a fixed portion (13) fixed on the sensor body, and a flexible portion (13) having flexibility formed therebetween, a working body (20) for transmitting an exerted force to the working portion, and detector means (60-63) for transforming a mechanical deformation produced in the semiconductor pellet to an electric signal to thereby detect a force exerted on the working body as an electric signal. A signal processing circuit is applied to the sensor. This circuit uses analog multipliers (101-109) and analog adders/subtractors (111-113), and has a function to cancel interference produced in different directions. Within the sensor, two portions (E3, E4-E8) located at positions opposite to each other and producing a displacement therebetween by action of a force are determined. By exerting a coulomb force between both the portions, the test of the sensor is carried out. Further, a pedestal (21, 22) is provided around the working body (20). The working body and the pedestal are located with a predetermined gap or spacing therebetween. A displacement of the working body is caused to limitatively fall within a predetermined range corresponding to the spacing. The working body and the pedestal are provided by cutting a same common substrate (350, 350′).

摘要: The invention is directed toward a subsurface gravity measurement device and a method for calibrating the same that includes a tilt meter and a gravity sensor. The method includes associating tilt information produced by the gravity sensor as a function of a relationship between tilt information produced by the tilt meter and a correction parameter. The tilt meter produces tilt data, and the gravity meter produces gravity data, corresponding to the tilt data. The tilt data and gravity data is fitted to a polynomial equation that has a plurality of initial coefficients associated therewith. The initial coefficients includes information concerning the correction parameter. The correction parameter is derived as a function of the initial coefficients.

摘要: A coordinate measuring machine (CMM) carries a probe and is controlled by a controller to drive the probe to take measurements on a workpiece. In order to reduce the effects of acceleration-induced deflections of the probe on the measurements made by the machine, accelerometers are provided to measure the accelerations of the probe and to produce signals indicative thereof. The acceleration signals (45) are passed to the controller (FIG. 2) where they are integrated (46) and filtered (48) before being passed as velocity signals (49) to a summing junction (50) from which they are fed to a velocity feedback control loop (34,35,36,37) which reduces any changes in the velocity (and hence deflection) of the probe due to the accelerations.

摘要: A method and system for automatically calibrating a masking process simulator using a calibration mask and process parameters to produce a calibration pattern on a wafer. A digital image is created of the calibration pattern, and the edges of the pattern are detected. Data defining the calibration mask and the process parameters are input to a process simulator to produce an alim image estimating the calibration pattern that would be produced by the masking process. The alim image and the detected edges of the digital image are then overlaid, and a distance between contours of the pattern in the alim image and the detected edges is measured. One or more mathematical algorithms are used to iteratively change the values of the processing parameters until a set of processing parameter values are found that produces a minimum distance between the contours of the pattern in the alim image and the detected edges.
